RD Nelson is a 2028 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope. Primary LHP with a lean and wiry frame. Throws from the stretch with a coiled leg raise above belt. Some deception in the delivery with tough angles. Throws from mid 3/4 slot showing some crossfire. Fastball worked up to 75 with good horizontal break. Curve showed good spin traits with depth and sharpness to it. Should continue to polish out the breaking ball as it has a real chance. Locates well off his fastball. Also played first getting up to 73 from there with comfort around the bag. Good glovework and fields everything cleanly mid body with 2 hands. Pivots well around the bag from a clean slot. Also played outfield getting up to 71 from there. Fields out front of front foot. Developing arm strength. Left-handed hitter with a wider base and high handset. Showed good feel and control of the barrel using the opposite field well. Contact oriented approach in the box. Excellent Student.
