Mike Sawyer is a 2024 1B/OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Aydlett, NC who attends Currituck County. Nice projectable frame with some thickness and muscularity already. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.65 seconds. Primary 1B, presenting the glove out front nicely displaying good feel as he worked fingers through the ball. Good feel for the spot, working around the bag well with solid footwork. Quick release with appropriate arm action creating accurate throws up to 73 mph. Reps in the OF as well, with deliberate approach to the ball, again fielding nicely out front. Reached 78 mph on throws here. RHH using an active trigger, neutral stance and small leg lift to get things going. High hand set and letting hands move downward to get on plane with the pitch. Full follow through with a bit of tilt, attacking the ball with a pull oriented approach showing lofted power when on time. Performed well in game action with the stick as well. Tremendous student.
