James Gaven is a 2028 3B/RHP/OF with a 5-10 135 lb. frame from Madison, NJ who attends Delbarton. Lean, high-waisted build with long levers and plenty of physical projection remaining. Primary third baseman, gets a good first step on the baseball and works through it well. Showcased lateral quickness and range to both sides with softness in the hands. Took an extra step during the transfer phase while accelerating into a low three-quarters release. Delivered accurate throws across the diamond while recording arm strength up to 78 mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher, utilizes an abbreviated wind-up with a medium stride down the slope. Separates into a full arm path before releasing the ball from a compact three-quarters slot. Located his fastball well in all parts of the strike zone, topping it out at 79 mph. Mixed in a tight curveball with some bite to it as well as a changeup with subtle fading action. Projects for an uptick in velocity with additional strength. Right-handed hitter, starts in an upright, slightly open stance with tight hands. Utilizes a small stride for timing before working into an uphill bat path. Sinks into his lower-half well and turns the hips with intent. Produced consistent contact to the middle of the field during batting practice. Projects for more power with additional strength. Posted an exit velocity of 68 mph. Ran a 7.54 sixty-yard dash. Named to the 2024 14u Mid-Atlantic All-State Games Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
