2004 Underclass National Showcase
Corey Bevis -- Bevis is a 6-0 junior right handed pitcher with some of the nicest, smoothest pitching mechanics we saw at the World Underclass. He threw 4 innings and pounded the strike zone with 82-84 mph fastballs the whole time. Bevis’ best secondary pitch was a 65-67 mph change up that he turned over nicely with good deception. The one pitch he can definitely improve on is his curveball, which had some downer spin but not the power you’d expect. Bevis is a good athlete who swung the bat very well and showed good athleticism. He’d be a good college prospect as a position player as well. That’s a good formula for projecting future velocity gains as a pitcher. Bevis is also a very good student.
