Walker McElwain is a 2027 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Alexandria, VA who attends Bishop O'Connell. Nice athletic build with good length and strength for his age and plenty of physical projection. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a high hand load, stays connected well and stays in his lower half, works the middle of the field and creates some carry to the opposite field gap, was consistently on time, stays through the ball on contact and gets good extension, projects very well as a hitter. Primary first baseman on defense, has good fundamental footwork and stays balanced, good glove work and transitions, has put effort into his defense at first and it shows. Also worked out in the infield but is best suited for first base. Took a turn on the mound, works from the stretch with a quick leg raise start and a deep arm action in back, throws from a high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 74 mph, threw both a curveball and slider and got on top of the ball well for some shape, also threw a firm change up with some tumble. Excellent student.
