Corbin Ace Downen is a 2029 RHP/SS with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Germantown, TN who attends Briarcrest Christian. Medium athletic build with some present strength and more to come. Recorded a 7.68 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked from a slow paced full wind up with a coiled leg raise load and medium length stride down the mound, 3/4's arm slot with good extension out front, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball worked in the 73-79 mph range for the duration of his outing from a three-quarters arm slot with good extension out in-front. Attacked the zone early with his fastball, while expanding well when ahead in the count. Showed feel for spin with ability to manipulate both speed and shape to it at-times, while completing his mix with a slightly faded changeup that he replicated well. Secondary infielder with a developing defensive skill set. Incorporated deliberate footwork, showed some lateral range to either side and delivered accurate throws up to 83 mph across the diamond during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slightly wider and open base with a tight, flatter handset and leg lift trigger. Coils well into his lower half, gets on-plane and uses rotational lower half mechanics to create torque and present bat speed. Slightly lofted stroke with line drive tendencies and natural lift, flashed budding power potential to the middle and pullsides of the field. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Good Student.
