Jacob Horner is a 2024 C/RHP, MIF, OF with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Bartlett, TN who attends Bartlett. Young, square shouldered frame with some present strength and additional room to grow moving forward. Ran an 8.90 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, low set up behind the plate, young footwork coming out of crouch, gets tall and gains some ground, lower release point on throws and gets under the ball at times, arm strength will continue to develop. Similar arm action on throws across the infield, fields the ball closer to body, moves well going up the middle, showed accuracy to first base. Also pitched, side step moving into a belt high leg lift, coil at top of balance point, long arm action through the back working to a side arm release point. Fastball topped out at 66 mph, short life to the pitch given release, worked around the zone and mixed a short curveball up to 55 mph. Right-handed hitter, Begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; loads hands back at start of swing, long swing path through the zone with subtle weight shift in lower half moving to contact. Linear path through the zone, worked to the middle and pull side parts of the field with comfort, occasionally gets downward with swing path, bat speed will continue to develop with added strength. Good student.
