Owen Shirey is a 2027 SS/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Providence Day. Slender athletic build with the beginnings of some present strength and more to come. 6.89 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has quick feet and moves well, had a soft glove to the back hand, adjusts his throwing slots well and charged the ball smoothly, nice arm strength and carry across the diamond, all the tools.actions to stay in the middle infield. Left handed hitter, starts from a narrow straight stance with a low and tight hand load, uphill swing plane, tends to lag the barrel through the zone, has adjustments to make at the plate. Also pitched, works from a full wind up with a longer arm action through the back with a high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, locates his fastball well and sits at the bottom of the zone. Curveball was a good second pitch with good arm speed and tight spin and occasional downer depth. Good student. Named to the PG Sunshine Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
