Chad Thompson is a 2028 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Summit, NJ who attends Delbarton. Broad shouldered young build with lots of physical projection remaining. Works from an abbreviated wind up with a quick and coiled high leg raise start, good separation and drive down the mound, compact arm action to a 3/4's arm slot. Fastball was in the upper 70's with some short run and sink, low spin rate characteristics, works arm side with command. Slider had some two-plane break and depth, also threw a change up with slight fading action. Has command and the ability to mix and match, projects well as he gets stronger. 7.34 runner in the sixty. Secondary outfielder on defense, attacks the ball well and gets the glove down early, developing footwork into his throws, made on-line throws with some young carry. Left handed hitter, starts from a slightly open stance with a high hand load and simple stride, turns well and creates some separation through the ball, consistent contact to the middle of the field, good base swing mechanics. Excellent student. Named to the PG Northeast Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
