Derrick Davis is a 2026 MIF/RHP, UT, with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from South Holland, IL, who attends Leo Catholic. A compact build with an athletic frame. Room to fill out moving forward. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. A primary middle infielder who worked out on the infield with good bounce. He moved well with clean footwork and a clue for the angles working through the ball. He had good arm speed across with a longer and whippy release. Clean slot on his throws at 83 mph that were accurate. Softer hands and a good approach working laterally to both sides -- managed a solid round of defensive reps. Also worked out in the outfield, throwing 83 mph during his round with clean movements working to the ball. He had some bounce with one-handed fielding off to the side, showing one-hop accuracy with a whip-through release. He had a clue for the outfield actions. Athletic actions with a quicker release. Switch-hitter. As a left-handed hitter, he kept a wider base with tighter hands and a lower back elbow, showing a quick path to the ball. Used a quick hovering leg lift for timing. Was rotational through the swing at times. As a right-handed hitter, it was a similar setup and base, but he looked more comfortable with his swing. He had a feel for the actions in the box, using quick hands, getting off the backside, and showing some strength at impact. Produced an 83 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with a quick delivery and athleticism working through it. He had a sidestep from the wind-up with a leg lift up above the belt, coiling slightly with some rotation in the upper half. He had a shorter arm action, pitching from a more three-quarters arm slot. Clean and free mover on the mound. Tightens up mechanics and shortens the leg lift when working from the stretch. Fastball in the low- to mid-70s that he paired with an upper-60s slider. The slider had a late sweep to it, developing traits with the slider. Great student. Named to 2024 Chicago Indoor Showcase TP List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
