Johnny Duddy is a 2022 RHP/OF with a 5-9 148 lb. frame from Weymouth, MA who attends Boston College High School. Medium, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build, room to fill throughout. Primary right-handed pitcher, begins with a high leg raise at start of delivery, keeps hands by chest throughout prior to working to a three-quarters release point with a long stride down the mound. Works downhill well, fastball topped out at 79 mph with life to arm side, nice pace to delivery and settled in around the zone. Kept hitters off balance, breaking ball showed 10-4 shape with some sweeping finish, served as an out pitch. Takes short steps moving towards the ball, fields it out front and works into a compact arm action, kept throws low with nice carry and showed accuracy to the plate, can continue to refine overall footwork. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, hands start pulled back deep, utilizes a double toe tap trigger for timing. Keeps hands inside the ball, full path through the zone; best when working on a linear plane, will get downward at times, can continue to incorporate additional extension out front, worked to the middle of the field. Very good student.
