LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2021 Pittsburgh Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Anthony Malagise is a 2023 SS/RHP, 3B, OF with a 5-11 176 lb. frame from Beaver Falls, PA who attends Blackhawk HS. Anthony is a solidly built, strong and twitchy athlete who shows advanced ability and a sound fundamental foundation that should allow for continued development. In addition to his commendable ability on the field, Anthony is also an exemplary student. He ran a highly impressive 6.83 60 yard dash. A primary middle infielder, Anthony utilizes a balanced approach to fielding. His quick feet and ability to read and play through the ball with a smooth glove is noticeable. His impressive 84 mph throws showed routine carry and accuracy. As good as his actions are now, he should continue to improve over the course of his next three years in HS. Sound, projectable future as a MIF. At the dish, Anthony starts with an open stance and incorporates a short, hovering leg lift to load and then stride to contact. His flatter bat path with lift at contact allows for his barrel to stay on plane and through noticeably loud and consistent contact.. He shows upside with the stick that will only continue to get better as he matures physically. Anthony has a solid overall game. His obvious athleticism dictates that he is probably versatile enough to play just about anywhere on the diamond as a defender. His future is unlimited with the bat as he could grow into a hitter that produces power and hits for average, too. Big upside for this young, gifted player.
