Christopher Wilson is a 2008 C/3B with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. He has a nice athletic frame with good length and some present strength that is projectable. Wilson has very good defenisve tools, including a very strong arm that registered 81 mph during drills. Wilson's release is long and slinging and needs work, which slows down his pop times but is correctable. Wilson has a quiet, comfortable set up behind the plate and shows good agility in shifting and blocking. Offensively, Wilson hits from a low hand set up with very good balance in his set up. He has good strength in his hands and generates nice bat speed through the ball. He showed the ability to consistently center the ball on the barrell during BP and during games and has some gap to gap power. Wilson is a good runner for a catcher at 7.33, as well. Overall, Wilson has nice physical tools across the board and should continue to improve as he gets stronger and refines his fundamentals, especially on defense. He's a solid Division I type of candidate and a solid follow.
