Gavin Dykes is a 2029 RHP/1B/3B with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Peachtree City, GA who attends Mcintosh. Stocky and strong build that stands out for a 2029. Primary RHP with a physical frame. Works from the semi-windup in a slow and controlled delivery. Fastball worked up to 84 with good life out of the hand and velo played up forcing late swings. Locates fastball well around the edges of the zone showing good command and control. Curve flashed with slurvey shape and some depth. Went to a slider with sharp 2-plane bite showing heavy downward tilt. Also flashed a change that dives down and kills spin. 4-pitches, all for strikes with plenty of polish for a 2029. Has an idea on how to sequence and tunnel his pitches keeping hitters off balance and repeats arm slot and speed. Also played infield and first. Was up to 84 from across the diamond and 83 from first. Profiles more so on the corner. Fields out front and pivots well around the bag. Moves well off it with good athleticism and controls body well. Accurate strong throws from a clean slot. Right-handed hitter with an even base starting slightly open. Uses a small knee lift trigger and stride out for timing and rhythm. Showed good strength off the barrel and was consistently on it throughout his round of BP. Showed excellent overall feel for the barrel. Consistent overall control and feel for it in the box. Good student. Named to the PG National Underclass Showcase-Main Event Presented by GEICO Top Prospect List.
