Daren Garcia is a 2026 SS/RHP, IF with a 5-7 148 lb. frame from Pharr, TX who attends Psja North. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build, has room to grow and develop moving forward. Ran an 8.03 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, gets low on the approach to the ball and fields out front with two hands, shows a feel for actions and mechanics, works through the backhand nicely, short arm action through the back and gets it out of glove well, arm strength will continue to develop nicely. Quick feet moving to the ball in the outfield, fields it to the side, utilizes a crow hop moving into release with a high slot on throws. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery with deliberate tempo and gets tall on backside with leg lift up past belt; shorter arm action through the back getting to a three-quarters release. Tall finish, fastball topped out at 68 mph, mostly true in life with some effort at release, short 11-5 shape to the curveball up to 58 mph, pitched to contact. Right-handed hitter, begins with weight on backside, high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Short and quick stroke through the zone, upper body dominant swing, swings with intent, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into weight shift. Best contact when working on a linear plane, showed comfort working line drive contact to the pull side.
