Derrick Gaona is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Victoria, TX who attends Victoria East. Smaller compact build. Ran a 7.79 60-yard dash. Middle infielder with some athletic movements, fluid to the baseball with footwork and clean glove actions, completes plays with a quick release and solid average arm strength across the diamond. Hit from a narrow base, showed some ability to whip the barrel with developing bat speed, easy efficient swings with feel for the barrel. Also hopped on the mound and showed the ability to locate a fastball and curve out of a three-quarter slot on the mound.
