KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Gianna Fucaloro is a 5'0, class of 2025 2B/OF, with a 5-0 95 lb. from Des Moines, IA who attends Dowling Catholic HS. Gianna is a speedy and athletic player with a unique skill set and a sound fundamental foundation that should serve her well as her career continues. She ran a solid 3.44 20-yard dash, with an impressive 1.10 5-yard split which shows advanced burst speed ability. A primary 2B, Gianna has a sound and advanced understanding of this all too important position. She has noticeable first step quickness and positions well. Her glove is smooth and consistent and there is some rhythm to her transition. Her 53-mph throwing velocity allows her throws to hold their plane. She is a routinely accurate thrower of the ball. Gianna also took a turn in the outfield and her quick twitch athleticism really plays well there. She positions well and plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum. She transitions quickly and her noticeably strong 58-mph throws are firm and regularly accurate. As good as Gianna is on the dirt, her athleticism and strong arm may actually play better in the OF. Outstanding effort. At the plate Giana has a great understanding of her ability. She is never going to be a slugger, so her offensive game must rely on her ability to make solid contact and run. She does both quite well. She is an easy and accomplished bunter. Her short game MUST be a big part of her hit plan now and moving forward. She has a contact first mentality and it works. She incorporates a flat bat path and a middle-of-the-field approach to strike the ball with regularity. She has a plus feel for the barrel and can drive the ball with surprising force. She will never be a power hitter and that is OK. She will cause a lot of sleepless nights for opponents, however, for her ability to get on base, run the bases, and be in position to score when her power hitting teammates come to the plate. Great future as a top-of-the-order impact player. Impressive workout. Gianna has an obvious passion for the sport, Her positive attitude and body language is infectious. Her future is bright!
