2023 Miami Prospect Showcase
Yan Cartaya is a 2025 1B/3B with a 6-3 245 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends Doral Academy Charter. Extra large build with good present strength and the potential to get stronger. Right handed hitter, has a power approach that has plenty of juice, takes a big swing with plenty of lift and gets the barrel out front consistently, will get too pull happy and hook the ball at times, took his best game swing when he let the ball travel and crushed one to center field. 7.89 runner in the sixty. Primary first baseman on defense, moves well for his size and can handle the glove, able to improve his lower half quickness and agility with work. Took a turn on the mound, throws from an upright delivery with a short and compact arm stroke, somewhat cross body at release. Fastball topped out at 82 mph with good arm side run, hides his slider well and got big sweeping life that frequently froze hitters. Good student and very young for the 2025 class. Named to the Miami Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
