2023 California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Joshua Johnson is a 2028 RHP/MIF, OF with a 5-0 100 lb. frame from Bakersfield, CA who attends Undecided. Young frame. In the outfield, he works with athletic footwork for the age, fielding out front and releasing with long fluid arm action. Should be fine with added size, strength and maturity. In the infield, he angles the ball off well with feel for the fundamentals of the position. Delivered accurate throws across but needs to develop further strength in the arm. At the plate, he sets up with narrow base working into a moderate leg kick. The approach is geared through the middle of the field and will be benefited greatly from added strength. On the mound, its a stretch-exclusive operation with medium arm action and three-quarters release. Showed solid arm speed and really pounded the zone with the fastball. Curveball shows moderate depth with tight spin, pretty standard breaker. Change needs polish, yanked it glove side. Struggles to get fully to the front side, just hangs out behind it. Found the zone a bunch. 8.64 60-yard dash.
