2025 PG Puerto Rico National Showcase Qualifier
Victor Merced is a 2026 3B/RHP/2B with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Caguas, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Medium athletic build with room to get stronger. 7.06 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense, has solid fundamentals with soft hands and quick hips/turns into his throws, proper footwork fielding and in his transitions, good arm strength across on his throws. Right handed hitter, sets up comfortably and stays very well timed, line drive swing plane with a very high contact approach, lived on the barrel all event with solid contact to all fields. Also pitched, throws from a full wind up with a high 3/4's arm slot and a short stride out front, gets coiled over the rubber and short stride keeps him from getting open and off his back side. Fastball was in the mid-70's and topped out at 78 mph, also threw a mid-60's short curveball. Excellent student.
