2021 14U Fall South Showcase
Cooper Pickett is a 2026 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 5-8 151 lb. frame from Prairieville, LA who attends Dutchtown. Recorded a 8.65 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, compact frame with plenty of time and room to mature. Primary catcher that receives from a higher, slightly side-saddled stance with two hands and a direct mid-line transfer. Gains ground towards his target with step-and-replace footwork. Works slightly uphill to throw and uses a longer arm action. Will continue to improve with proper refinement of his tools and additional strength. Secondary right-handed pitcher with a simple, repeatable delivery. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 60s for most of his outing, topping out at 66 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Consummate strike thrower with ability to move the fastball around the zone, mixed in slow, looping breaking ball that had 11-5 shape and gradual depth to it. Also, took part in the infield and first base portion of the defensive workout. Displayed deep fielding funnel, soft hands to field and the ability to adjust depending on the type of hop. Recorded arm strength up to 64 mph across the diamond in the infield portion and 66 mph across during the first base portion of the workout. Right-handed hitter that hits from a a wider, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger for timing. Pull-side approach with elongated swing path that has the tendency to get uphill. Developing bat-to-ball skills and feel for the barrel that will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Good Student.
