Nelson Grajales Vazquez is a 2023 C/1B,/3B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Odenton, MD who attends Arundel. Recorded a 5.12 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, well-proportioned frame with some athleticism to his movements. Primary catcher that receives a higher, side-saddle stance with soft hands and fairly direct mid-line transfer. Gains ground towards his target efficiently out of the crouch, while working into a compact arm action to throw. Recorded online, accurate throws up to 72 mph from behind the plate during drills. Secondary corner infielder with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Deliberate paced footwork into the fielding process, while working downhill to funnel out in front. Showed some range to either side and the ability to make throws on the run and from different arm angles when necessary. Recorded arm strength up to 75 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from a bent-knee, open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and hover trigger. Whole field approach with lightning quick hands, plenty of present bat speed and loud impact through the middle-of-the field. Displayed consistent bat-to-ball skills and exceptional feel for the barrel, flashed some gap-to-gap power potential when on-time. Solid catch-and-throw skill set with some positional versatility and legitimate offensive tools. Will continue to improve with minor refinements mechanically and some physical maturity.
