Carson Umphres is a 2025 OF/RHP with a 6-5 195 lb. frame from Great Bend, KS who attends Great Bend. Outstanding athletic build with lots of room to fill in and get stronger. 6.65 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, plays tall through the ball and tends to get his glove down late, charges hard, developing footwork into his transition and throws, has plenty of arm strength with more there with fundamental adjustments. Right handed hitter, stands well off the plate to start his swing, big lift and replace leg raise trigger, can be late getting his foot down, downhill swing plane, has raw bat speed and creates plenty of impact, can improve his timing and swing plane to more consistently square up and drive the ball. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a fast paced leg raise delivery, short arm action. Fastball topped out at 83 mph to go with a slurve type breaking ball with some depth. Great athlete who needs repetitions and coaching to reach his physical ceiling. Excellent student. Named to the Kansas City Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
