Joji Sakata is a 2023 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Valencia, CA who attends Castaic High School. Lean athletic build. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.74 seconds. Primary left-handed pitcher, throws from an over the top arm slot and has a high-effort delivery with some athleticism. Gets down the mound easy and has good arm speed. Hides the ball well, get hitters out due to his deception. The fastball sat 73-78 mph, works best at the bottom of the zone generating swing and misses. Paired it with a curveball that sat 68-71 mph and had downward break. Also worked out in the outfield, came to the ball well, showed good footwork with a quick transition. Displayed a strong arm with accurate throws. At the plate, hits from an even base with a high back elbow. Has a downward hand path swing with a pull side approach that consistently found barrel. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
