John Byler is a 2025 C/RHP/MIF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Argyle, TX who attends Grapevine Faith Christian. Medium frame with a lean athletic build. Ran a 7.66 second 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, works through the ball well with repeated actions, gains solid ground into a short release, has developing arm strength but efficiency allows him to create solid pop times. Also plays some infield, deliberate and intentful with his actions, has some range, loose arm stroke up to 77 across the diamond. Also pitches, quick paced and controlled delivery, arm works well and shows feel for three pitches, gets over the front side very well and sink the fastball to the bottom, able to really sell the changeup with low spin and dive, spins the breaking ball hard and gets good vertical bite, good profile on the fastball and the full mix projects. Right-handed hitter, balanced base and short move in, compact stroke working inside the ball, fires his weight hard and able to release the barrel late with the quickness to the path, some inconsistencies with barrel accuracy but enough handle of it to project on. Great student.
