2022 California Workout Showcase (Sunday)
Lance McKey is a 2025 OF/LHP with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Hillsboro, OR who attends Central Catholic. Features a lean build with room to add. Ran a 7.66 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder. Displayed an aggressive approach throughout defensive workouts. Catches the ball out front well. Pulled down well on accurate throws with low height. Continuing to maintain momentum into throws could help add arm strength. More should come as the frame fills out as well. Left-handed hitter. Utilizes an open stance with a wide base and semi-crouch lower half. Gets significant length with pre-pitch stride. Swings with good intent. Looks to do damage in the box. Linear bat path produced line drives to all parts of the park. Flashed good bat speed through the zone. More power should come as more strength is added to the frame. Threw on the mound too. Lefthanded pitcher. Uses a semi-windup delivery into slight drop and drive delivery. Hides the ball well throughout a short arm swing into a 3/4 slot release. Showed the ability to repeat the delivery well despite moderate effort used. The fastball sat 65-68 mph with slight armside run. Has the ability to throw it for strikes often. Paired it with a slider at 58-60 mph. The offering showed solid horizontal action with flashes of bite when thrown with conviction. Has time to further develop mechanics and arm speed. Very good student.
