Charles Petty is a 2023 3B/RHP/OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Charlotte Country Day. Posted a 7.55 in the 60 yard dash. Primary 3B, showed good footwork through the plays and moved well side to side with a sound glove. Low arm slot action with good force behind it. Right idea for his infield actions and the good athleticism fills in the gaps to make it work, has time to polish the present tools. Also pitched, the right hander topped the fastball out at 80 mph and flashed a developing breaking ball. Worked with a simple operation he repeats well showing a balanced high leg lift and compact low elbow arm action. Leaks the front side a bit toward the plate, high effort arm compensates and fills up the zone. Soft spinning breaking ball, has some feel for the off-speed to develop. Right handed hitter, starts with an exaggerated open athletic stance and hitch load. Short to the ball, has quick hands and flashed good bat speed, able to engage some strength at contact and extension, worked his best contact pull side. Present strength projects and will advance well with plenty more to come ahead of him. Great student.
