Dawson Lewis is a 2029 SS/RHP with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from Brandon, MS who attends Northwest Rankin. Medium, compact frame with a high waist and plenty. of room to fill out. Recorded a 7.50 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with a developing defensive skill set. Used tentative footwork into the fielding process, showed some lateral range and bends slightly to field. Worked through the baseball into an uphill release. Produced arm strength up to 74 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with sideways start and small side step into a slightly lower leg lift. Incorporates medium stride down the slope and repeats well. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 75 mph from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Flashed developing curveball with gradual break and loose overall spin profile, will continue to improve with proper mechanical refinements and additional velocity. Took part in the outfield portion of the defensive workout as well, where he showed anticipatory footwork into the fielding process, while fielding off to the side and transitioning into release with an elongated arm action. Produced arm strength up to 76 mph during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, slightly open base with a lower hand set and hover trigger. Sinks well into lower half and creates some separation into launch. Whole field approach with developing feel for the barrel, some present bat speed and best impact to the middle and pull-side of the field. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength.
