Nicholas Thompson is a 2028 RHP/3B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Westlake. Primary RHP with a medium sized frame and strong build. Starts on first base side of rubber and throws from the stretch. Simple and repeatable mechanics to the plate. Controlled the zone well and challenged hitters with his fastball. Fastball worked up to 81 and was located and overpowering at times. Kept hitters off balance with a curve that worked up to 68 and showed big depth landing it in the zone with confidence. Good overall feel for the pitch and ability to spin it with control. Also flashed a slider at 75. Throws from a high 3/4 slot and locates well all around. Should continue to tick up in velo. Also played infield, getting to the ball fine and profiles more so on the corner. Showed a strong arm with good accuracy and was up to 82 from across the diamond. LHH who uses a toe tap trigger for timing and rhythm. Uphill swing path to the ball and works the middle of the field well. Can impact it at times. Strength projects a good bit here and more power should come. Good Student.
