2004 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Danny Rose is a 2006 right handed pitcher/shortstop from Mason City, Iowa, with a very projectable 6'2", 165 lb. frame. Rose is a lean and athletic pitcher who throws from a 3/4 arm slot with above average arm speed. He has solid mechanics with an easy arm motion, and a solid lower half. Rose had one of the better pitching lines from the showcase. He struck out 7 batters in 3 innings of work, while allowing only 1 hit. He hides the ball well on his 80 mph fastball with some late life. He flashed a late breaking curveball at 67 mph with good depth. He has a projectable body, and should gain velocity as he continues to mature physically. Offensively, Rose is a contact hitter with a good bat path. He did a great job of situational hitting, and moving runners over with base hits to the right side. We really like his potential on the mound. Danny is a very good student.
