2021 Sunshine Rocky Mountain Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Brian Atkinson is a 2024 RHP/1B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Rapid City, SD who attends Rapid City Central. Strong and physical build. Primary RHP who throws out of a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm circle. His FB sat 73-79 mph and showed some late cutting action to it. Also featured a CB that had deep 11/5 shape and is a pitch with plenty of bite and tightness. Flashed a SL as well which is an offering that had some slight tilt to it. At 1B defensively he showed proper footwork around the bag as well as solid body control on a slow roller play. His top throw across the diamond clocked in at 81 mph. At the plate he hits out of a slightly open and balanced stance with a toe tap trigger. Did a nice job of getting off his backside throughout the swing to transfer his weight. Great student.
