Daryl Lewis from Key West, FL. Is definitely not a big RHP. At 5'10/165 he is very athletic young man who looks like a centerfielder or MIF. He ran a 6.8 60 at Trop. However Daryl is in fact a RHP and he's one of the very best in the entire country. Kind of reminds one of Tom "Flash" Gordon. Lewis has no problem throwing 92 mph fastballs with plus life and very good command. Add that he's very deceptive and the ball comes screaming out of his hand. His breaking ball is equally an outstanding pitch with command. It's a sharp breaker that somehow looks different than other breaking balls. Lewis was the least well known of the Key West HS trio with C Ralph Henriquez and RHP Chas Spottswood but he’s made a name for himself in Tropicana Field. Daryl is a good student, too. He can be a star pitcher at any college in the country. Not often do we look at a 5'10 RHP as a potential high draft pick, but this kid is very special.
