Gabriel Gonzalez is a 2027 1B/LHP/OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Kensington, CA who attends Berkeley. Medium build. Left handed hitter, sets up in a slightly open stance with a high back elbow load and a toe tap trigger, longer swing with an uphill swing plane, pull approach, has some impact when he gets the barrel out front but can be late at times, some tools to continue to develop as a hitter. 7.67 runner in the sixty. Primary first baseman on defense, works around and through the ball well, has an idea on his footwork, compact arm action and makes accurate throws, solid overall fundamental actions. Also worked out in the outfield, was aggressive to the ball and carried his momentum well into his throws, over the top arm slot with some carry on his throws, good secondary position for him. Took a turn on the mound, works only from the stretch with hard drive down the mound, will rush at times, compact 3/4's arm slot, will fly open at times. Fastball was in the mid-70's and mostly straight, thrown for strikes with some deception, was effective up in the zone. Threw a short slider with some tightness and tilt as his secondary pitch. Excellent student.
