Connor Cavanah is a 2029 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-5 110 lb. frame from Hinsdale, IL who attends Hinsdale Central. Young, narrow shouldered frame with a lean build and room to develop physically moving forward. Ran an 8.50 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet, gets the glove out front early, overall lateral range will continue to develop with additional quickness, short arm stroke through the backside with accurate throws on to first base, gets under throws at times, made a nice barehanded play on slow roller. Also pitched, full wind up from the middle of the rubber, short side step moving in with a higher leg lift; drop and drive through lower half, works to a compact three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 64 mph, flashed occasional cut action to the glove side and mixed a curveball with 12-6 shape and gradual depth; maintained arm speed on breaker and pitched to contact successfully. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even base and a low back elbow and hand set. Utilizes a load stride for timing while generating extension out front at the point of contact. Contact oriented approach with comfort working to the middle nad pull side parts of the field. Works on a linear plane and stayed connected nicely throughout stroke. Excellent student.
