Alex Lombardi is a 2007 RHP/3B/1B from Lake Mary HS in Florida with a 6'3", 190 lb. frame. The young righty has a projectable pitcher's body and could be a very strong young man in a few years. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with good arm action and little effort. Lombardi throws slightly across his body which adds to his deception and the life on his pitches. His fastball topped out at 75 mph with good late life, and he also mixed in a good curveball at 65 mph. His curveball breaks across the plate with good depth and will be an out pitch for him in the future. Lombardi showed good control of his pitches, and has upside on the mound. Offensively he is a left handed hitter with a wide base and knee lift trigger. His swing is short and quick with good bat speed. It appears he likes the ball middle in and turns on it well. He is a contact hitter with projectable power. He also showed soft hands at first base. Lombardi has great upside and it will be fun to watch him progress.
