2023 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Anthony Calzaretta is a 2027 2B/UT with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Lockport, IL who attends Lockport Township. Features a smaller build with plenty of room to fill. Ran a 8.49 60-yd dash. In the INF, showed developing SS actions. Waits back in his approach at times where his feet showed avg. quickness and range but play with decent rhythm. Present feel for his glove actions showing softness to his hands where his eyes tracked each GB into the glove. Used a shorter arm action that got off throws with avg. strength for his level. At the plate, he is in a more straight/upright stance and uses a simple forward move. There is some looseness and rhythm to the hands. Turns well with his lower half and works the barrel on a slight uphill path through with avg. bat/hand speed. Found consistent quality barrels to the left-center gap throughout his round flashing some gap-power. Also jumped on the mound for an inning. Showed a slow/control lift to the belt with a shorter stride down the mound. Arm worked up to a higher 3/4 slot where he left his low 70s fastball up in the zone. Mixed in a low 60s breaking ball that showed 11-4 break to it.
