Batting Practice Highlights - Gateway
Dominic Martinello (2029, Elmhurst, Ill.) took some good hacks during BP today, showing off a ton of bat speed. He was short to contact with a direct path and able to work back through the middle of the field for good results. Balanced operation in the box, with some good swings working pull-side as well.
Chase Estrada (2029, Glencoe, Ill.) found some barrels during BP, mostly working back through the middle of the field. He had good extension working through contact and was able to create good barrel whip. The righty impacted well and was able to turn well and hit balls hard all over the field.
Nolan Maranell (2029, Wheaton, Ill.) handled the barrel well from the right side, staying short to contact and driving the ball well. Had strength and impact off the barrel with a good feel to be on plane. He sprayed hard-hit contact all over the field, with good jump off the barrel.
Chase Eimerman (2029, Lake Forest, Ill.) had a balanced swing with quick turns and feel to get on the barrel and impact it. The right-hander was quick to contact and drove the ball well, working back up the middle and pull-side. Good jump off the barrel, with an aggressive move working through contact.
Joseph Tobey (2030, Glenview, Ill.) showed an aggressive swing at the plate during BP, turning hard with good strength in the hands. He was able to lift the ball and display good hand speed to impact it well and consistently work gap-to-gap – with some feel to launch as well.
Max West (2029, Bourbonnais, Ill.) handled the bat really well during BP, driving it well with a ton of bat speed. He had fast hands with hard turns that allowed him to drive through contact and control the barrel well. His best results came working back-side and in the gaps/up the middle.
Devon Fuller (2029, Northbrook, Ill.) handled the barrel well during his round of BP swings, finding ways to work to right-center field with good bat speed to impact. He had a good feel to be on time with plenty of bat speed and was able to produce some loud results with his round of swings.
Chase Kramer (2030, Oshkosh, Wisc.) showed good actions in the batters’ box with a feel to stay shorter and direct and an ability to get on the barrel and drive the ball well. There was present strength on display and good strength off it as he extended through swings and drove the ball well during BP.
Steven Solano (2029, Rapid City, S.D.) showed good extension through contact with plenty of whip and good bat speed that allowed him to create some whip and impact the ball well in the air. He had a feel to lift that allowed him to do some damage, with his best swings coming when working pull-side, as he turned hard and lifted the ball well.
