Matthew Passantino is a 2028 RHP/1B/2B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Mount Sinai, NY who attends Mount Sinai. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build, plenty of room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.27 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, side steps into a mid-chest knee lift, engages lower half well coming down the mound; compact and quick arm action working to a high three-quarters release point. Repeats delivery well and showed comfort working to the glove side; fastball topped out at 82 mph with short running life at times through the zone. Quality changeup up to 73 mph with nice depth and subtle fade, slurve shape to the breaker at 68 mph, tends to slow arm at release. Moves well in the dirt and works behind the ball well, makes the plays and glove plays out front, accurate throws with present strength and carry across. Right-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and a high back elbow; utilizes a small toe tap load for timing. Short and direct swing in the box, engages lower half well moving into contact. Shows quickness to hands with intriguing power potential, ball comes off the barrel well, occasionally gets to front side early with lower half shift.
