Grant Shafer is a 2024 SS/RHP, 3B, MIF, OF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Fairfax, VA who attends Robinson Secondary. Long, lean and athletic looking frame with a high waist and plenty of room to add strength moving forward. Recorded a 3.93 second thirty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with smooth, fluid actions throughout the fielding process. Works downhill through the baseball with proper footwork and athleticism. Displayed a clean funnel out in-front, showed ability to change arm angles when necessary and recorded arm strength up to 85 mph across during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Rather simple, repeatable delivery with good balance and athletic movements down the slope. Fastball worked in the low-80s for the majority of his outing and topped out at 82 mph from a three-quarters arm slot in this look. Generates easy life to the fastball, pounding the zone effortlessly with some natural arm-side life to it. Mixed in a legitimate swing-and-miss breaking ball with good vertical depth and late horizontal bite to it, generating numerous empty swings throughout. Strike thrower with velocity upside and true weapon in his breaking ball. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, even base with a tight hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Gap-to-gap approach with loose, leverage stroke, plenty of present bat speed and strength in his hands. Displayed consistent impact with burgeoning power potential as he continues to physically mature. Athletic, projectable prospect with two-way skill set, offensive prowess and upside on the mound. Good Student. Named to the 2022 Virginia Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
