16u PG World Series Qualifier: Day 1 Notes

Sean Hermann (2021, Valrico, Fla.) is a 6-foot-1, 155-pound righthanded pitcher who took the mound for Ostingers 2021 Reed Friday morning.  He worked out of the stretch during his outing and maintain velocity, 82-85 mph from a low three-quarters slot, throughout his outing. He has a whippy arm action and a quick shoulder, with deception created by a unique front glove turn.  His best offering was a slider that was up to 77 and got a number of swing and misses. It showed depth and hard 10-4 break. He threw 3 2/3 innings while striking out seven and not giving up a hit or free pass.  The University of South Florida commit was in command his entire outing.

Kristopher Sosnowski (2021, Lithia, Fla.) showed big upside with a strong build that will continue to produce more velocity as he learns to get over his front side consistently. His fastball had life and produced mid-80s velocity throughout his outing.  He started landing a slider in his second inning of work and produced a lot of weak contact from the pitch.  Sosnowski added a hard, line drive single to round out a very impressive day for the uncommitted prospect.

Damaal Sands (2020, Nassau, N.W.) is a pretty polished 5-foot-11 shortstop who plays for the Bahamas Spartans.  He has a high waist and long arms that you can see filling out nicely as he develops. He has present quick-flick in his bat and showed a competitive nature during his at bats.  While Sands gets more game reps, it’s to see an upward development pattern.  Defensively he moved lightly, with a good first step, and maintained a consistent approach through the groundballs hit his way.  His throws had carry on them and he made multiple movement plays throughout Friday’s game.

Ajani Cumberbatch (2020, Nassau, N.W.) is a 6-foot, 186-pound righthanded hitter who has very good raw bat speed.  He is strong with a barrel chest and looks the part of a top tier athlete.  He swings with intent and showed some feel for the barrel as he took an outer half fastball and drove it hard to the right-center field fence, for a standup double. He is a bat that needs to be followed closely.

Thomas Allen (2021, Valrico, Fla.) had a very nice day at the dish going 3-for-3 with an RBI for Ostingers 2021 Mondoux.  He has a classic athletic body, with wide shoulders and a proportioned lower half. He has noticeably strong forearms that produce a quick bat, short and direct to the baseball.  He is a smooth runner and was aggressive on the base paths on Friday.  The bat-to-ball skills are easy to see.

Kaleb Sierra (2020, Tampa, Fla.) has a small athletic frame, listed at 5-foot and 100 pounds, turned in a great performance on the mound.  He has a low three-quarters arm slot, short and quick on the backside, and repeats his delivery and release point well.  His fastball has arm-side run and he mixed a big breaking 11-5 curveball and a changeup that he pronates well with long fade.  He used all three pitches Friday morning to go 4 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out three batters for Game Time Prospects Black.

Trenten Caples (2021, Chuluota, Fla.) took the mound on Friday for Power Baseball 2021 Gold and did not disappoint.  He is a 6-foot righthanded pitcher that has elite feel for his fastball, commanding it to all four quadrants.  He did a nice job of mixing and 82-83 sinker to both sides of the plate and then running 84-85 mph fastball to the top of the zone, late in counts.  His breaking ball got better as the outing went along and peaked at 72, and it will continue to get better as he learns to throw it with intent. Caples went five innings on Friday, striking out nine batters while not giving up a walk.  He threw strikes on 78 percent of his pitches which speaks the fastball command mentioned. He will need to be followed very closely as his velocity continues to tick upward.

Jaxon Copeland (2020, Casselberry, Fla.) The Florida Grinders shortstop put on a show on Friday afternoon.  His 5-foot-11 frame is well proportioned and can add easy strength.  He looks the part of a very good middle infield prospect at the next level.  His lateral range was tested often as he showed fluidity and quickness to both his forehand and backhand.  He made a great play ranging to his left, sliding to pick up a sharply hit ground ball, and in one motion popped up, transferred, and changed arm angles to make a firm and accurate throw to get a close out at first.  He plays very hard, added two hits offensively, and shows upside on both sides of the ball.  He should not be uncommitted for long.

Carlito De Jesus (2022, Brandon, Fla.) had a nice day today for the Warriors Baseball 2021 club on Friday. He is a 6-foot-1 catcher that has loose hips and showed above average blocking and receiving skills.  The young backstop displayed his offensive upside during the contest, hitting balls hard in all three at bats.  His line was 2-for-3, one hit being a long double down the left field line.  As De Jesus gets strong and the arm continues to develop, he should develop into a very good power hitting catcher down the road.

Luke Valenchis (2022, Hollywood, Fla.)  has a wiry-athletic 5-foot-11 frame, with slender hips and plenty of room to add good weight.  He saved his best inning of Friday’s contest for the last one. Playing for the OAGWUW-Riot, the game was all square at four, heading into the last frame.  Hitting out of the leadoff spot, Luke hit a hard single over the shortstop’s head to score the go-ahead run in the top half of the inning. He followed that with an over-the-shoulder catch, with two out and a runner in scoring position, to complete the win.  He also added a run and a walk earlier in Friday’s game.

Luca Oberndorfer (2022, West Palm Beach, Fla.) came out of the pen and gave Central Florida Play Hard three quality innings. He only allowed three hits and had his fastball at 81 mph with a lot of movement. He also used his 12-6 curveball quite often when he was ahead in the count that was 68-70 mph. Oberndorfer has a very athletic build and uses a very quick delivery while he is on the mound. He commanded the bottom half of the zone and produced a lot of groundouts. Behind the plate for Oberndorfer was Shalor O’Bryant (2021, Lake Wales, Fla.) O’Bryant crushed a double and went 1-for-2. He looked very comfortable and confident at the plate.

Uncommitted center fielder Donovan Dubisson (2021, Gibsonton, Fla.) laced a triple to left-center and later scored. Dubisson, who looked comfortable at the plate all day found a gap late in the game to add some runs for the GameTime Prospects Orange. He has great speed as he runs down balls easily in center field. Dubisson, who will continue to get bigger and stronger, is looking to continue to drive the ball to both gaps this summer.

Club 750 Elite-Pro’s first baseman Nick Pasquale (2023, Longwood, Fla.) looked solid at the plate. Standing at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, he has a very strong stance as he stands in the righthanded box. Going 2-for-3 with hard hit balls every at-bat. Pasquale has a strong arm over in the hot corner throwing out runners with ease. Pasquale will continue to develop as a baseball player and improve both defensively and offensively.

Zeth Rodriguez (2021, Spring Hill, Fla.) has looked phenomenal in every aspect of the game. He makes playing shortstop look super easy with his great hands and strong arm and he is able to get to balls easy in the holes. Rodriguez, who is uncommitted, has a very athletic build with very strong legs. He has a slightly opened stance in the box and uses his fast hands to get into the zone quickly, while staying through the ball very well. He is a line drive hitter that stays in the middle of the field and he has good pull side pop. Rodriguez played behind righthander Sebastian Martinez (2021, Tampa, Fla.). Martinez ran his fastball up to 86 mph, with a curveball at 72 mph. Martinez threw two innings of shutout baseball, with three strikeouts.

Orlando Lookouts Baseball Club’s third baseman Dennis Santiago (2020, Orlando, Fla.) looked stellar at the plate. He went 2-for-3 with a run scored and played good defense. Santiago drove a ball to deep right field that ended up hopping over the wall for a ground rule double. He also had no problem going the other way in his later at bat. Santiago has a slightly open stance and has an athletic build.

TBT Phillies Scout run rules for second straight MLK East Championship The 14U TBT Phillies Scout Team overtook A3 Academy Futures 14-6 in the final game to win their second straight 2026 MLK East Championship. Though the skies were blue and the sun was out in Fort Myers, Florida, the air was very chilly. The wind whipped through the palm trees as players, parents and friends piled into the 5-Plex Player Development Complex bundled up in blankets, hoodies and beanies.
