WWBA World Champ. Uncommitted: Hitters

With the changing of the recruiting landscape that was presented in 2020, Perfect Game wants to continue our efforts to provide a spotlight and platform for uncommitted players to showcase their talents. The WWBA World Championship is often a time where schools are able to find some late additions to their classes, discover a pop up prospect, or even add to a future class as there's a bevy of uncommitted underclass talent in attendance as well. Among the slew of uncommitted talent in attendance in Fort Myers, Jered Goodwin takes a look at 20 players who put together quality performances and should be on college coaches radar. 


Charlie Condon, 1B/3B,OF, Marietta, GA/Class of 2021
Condon came to Fort Myers and did what he has done all year, raked. He hit balls half way up the light pole in the WWBA Workout Showcase before the event. Then the right-handed hitter banged in Jupiter to a tune of a .444 average and .944 OPS. He just hits at every stop and still hasn’t tapped into what his body/swing is capable of doing.



Mateo Zeppieri, OF, New Market, ON/Class of 2021
Some Canada flavor in the next three prospects that stood out. Zeppieri only hit .533 with a couple of doubles and a triple in the most scouted event of the year. The frame looks right, and the bat-to-ball skills make you dream big. With seven runs scored and four RBI, the left-handed hitter can clearly change games in a hurry.

Glenn Noronha, OF, Mississauga, ON/Class of 2021
The smaller and twitchy centerfielder for the Ontario Blue Jays, Noronha did exactly what a disrupter should do. He scored eight runs, knocked in five, walked five times, and sprayed the ball around for a .400 average. The left-handed hitting centerfield Canadian could produce early at the next level.

Josiah Devapalan, 1B/3B, Brampton, ON/Class of 2021
The physically imposing 6-foot-1, 220 pound first baseman swung the stick all weekend at the WWBA World Championship. Devapalan hit .400 with a 1.171 OPS and has big power potential in his right-handed swing. He hit a couple of doubles and there is a lot of reason to believe he is just tapping into the extra base production.

Easton LaPlaca, C/OF, RHP, Naples, FL/Class of 2021
It’s curious why LaPlaca is still uncommitted. The 5-foot-10, 170 pound wiry framed left-handed hitting catcher is very athletic and clearly has his best days ahead of him. He hit in the middle of the order of the Power Baseball lineup that went to the finals of the WWBA. He has a patient approach, drawing five walks, and added a couple extra base hits. The seven RBI add to the overall profile that should be extremely attractive. UPDATE: Easton has since committed to High Point University.

Sean Sparling, OF/1B, Palm Coast, FL/Class of 2021
At 6-foot-4, 215 pounds Sparling just looks the part. Add the fact that he is a left-handed hitter with loose and long levers, he should be at the top of boards. The Scorpions Founders Club banger hit .385 and led the event with three home runs. He also had 11 RBI to solidify his run producing potential. There is massive upside in this late gem. UPDATE: Sean has since committed to Daytona State College.

Kaden Smith, C/1B, Reidsville, NC/Class of 2021
A .667 with a double and six RBI showing at the WWBA is a big statement. Smith also drew six walks to help his OPS profile. If he proves he is a long-term catcher, he should be an excellent addition to any class this late. The strong 6-foot-3, 205 pound frame is durable and should be able to handle the everyday grind.

Kohl Robertson, OF/1B, RHP, Land O’Lakes, FL/Class of 2021
Robertson has been in the middle of Hit Factory Pro line-ups for years. One of the programs that just wins, Robertson has a hand in all of it. On the biggest stage, he hit .538 with a double while notching a 1.154 OPS. He has some defensive versatility but needs to show he isn’t just a first baseman. Regardless, he is a tough kid and his offensive production speaks for itself. UPDATE: Kohl has since committed to Florida Southwestern State College.

Jorge Fragoso Jr., OF/LHP, East Point, GA/Class of 2021
Fragoso Jr. is a switch-hitter that has some twitch to his 5-foot-8, 160 pound frame. It was an incredible weekend as he hit .556 with a triple and a home run. He showed good timing with ability to create space with impact. Playing mostly in the corner outfield, if he can show ability to play centerfield the upside increases immensely.

Jake Rabe, SS/INF, Corpus Christi, TX/Class of 2021
A switch-hitting shortstop with a good 6-foot-1, 170 pound frame is not normally uncommitted. This is 2022 though, and he will have to continue to build on the arm strength. The bat though, is not a question. He his .375 with a triple at the WWBA and that offensive line is not any different from what Rabe seems to always produce.

Donovan McIntyre, OF/LHP, Richton Park, IL /Class of 2021
This is what a lead-off and centerfield prospect should look like. The 6-foot-1, 150 pound frame has room to fill but the quick wrists and range are showing up right now. McIntyre, a left-handed hitter, hit .333 at the WWBA while scoring six runs while trying to swipe bases every time he stepped on first base. He can make a pitcher uncomfortable in a hurry. UPDATE: Donovan has since committed to Kent State University.

Coby Wilkerson, 3B/1B, Monroe, GA/Class of 2021
A big and strong 6-foot-3, 195 pound frame, Wilkerson uses the strength well in his offensive game. He his .300 with a double and home run in Fort Myers. He helped Team Elite Prime make a run with his seven RBI and 1.263 OPS performance. He played mostly first base but has enough athleticism to develop at third.


Carter Allen, C/3B, Manvel, TX/Class of 2021
Allen just rakes. Every single stop, he puts up huge numbers and the WWBA was no different. The right-handed hitting catcher hit .417 with a double and a 1.033 OPS. It’s hard to think he is still uncommitted, with his consistent production he would  be committed in a normal year. He is polished offensively and seems to be a tough backstop.

Tommy Barth, OF/LHP, Brecksville, OH/Class of 2021
Barth isn’t the most physically imposing guy, but he did hit in the clean-up spot at the WWBA. The right-handed hitter (left-handed throwing) outfielder fashioned himself a great weekend hitting .385 with two triples. He was a steady run-producing force and stands out for his bat to ball skills. He has  a smaller frame but put up an over 1.000 OPS in Fort Myers.


Marcus Franco, 1B/RHP, Miramar, FL/Class of 2021
No surprise here, Franco blasted a couple balls in his last travel ball tournament. The country-strong 6-foot-4, 230 pound framed right-handed hitter blasted two homers at the WWBA. He is a true middle of the order producer but has a solid hit tool to go along with the profile. Franco hit .333 and consistently works deep into counts. The consistency should not be ignored.


Ivan Arias, SS/2B, Boston, MA/Class of 2022
Arias is exactly what you are looking for when trying to build a winning college team. He is tough, has instincts, can play in the middle, and hits at the top of the lineup. The 5-foot-8, 170 pound frame is of no concern, this kid can play! He worked five walks and scored six runs during the WWBA while grinding each at bat out and playing a great shortstop. Arias hit a bunch of non-hits on the barrel and is a “baseball player.”

AJ Nessler, 2B/UTL, Tampa, FL/Class of 2022
Nessler only played three games but did exactly what he has done all of 2020 during that short look. The left-handed hitter whacked it around the yard. A short look, but he hit .750 with some walks. This builds on a strong year in which he has hit .358 with a .983 OPS. Nessler is a strong kid and proving to be a tough at bat for opposing arms.

Frank Micallef, C/3B, RHP, Tampa, FL/Class of 2021
As consistent as it gets, Micallef continues to prove to pitching staffs that they can trust him. The 6-foot-1, 205 pound frame is strong and durable that can carry the load of a number one catcher at the next level. He also shows plenty of ability at the plate, hitting .333 with a triple at the WWBA. This output isn’t a surprise from the blue collar catcher.

LeTrey McCollum, OF/C, Murrieta, CA/Class of 2021
McCollum has a beautiful 6-foot-4, 175 pound frame to project. He is a smooth striding athlete with a matching fluid right-handed stroke. The production in Fort Myers was solid, hitting a double with a couple of walks. But the body, smooth athleticism and budding power potential will be enough to make him a huge late addition to a college class.

Bradke Lohry, SS, Trinity, FL/Class of 2021
Lohry continued to show why he should be one of the better uncommitted middle infield prospects in the country. He is sure-handed and a heady player. The right-handed hitter also contributed a .313 average, scoring five runs and stealing five bases. The shifty prospect with top of the order potential will find a role early at the next level.

Another few weeks have wrapped up this high school season as we’re flying through the spring and most southern states are starting playoffs right around the corner. With the end of the regular season, we have another National Top 50 update to bring to you, along with this will be the start of the weekly editions of our National Top 50. We have a change at the top of the rankings as Venice (FL) takes over the top spot after just dominating their competition in the state of Florida this year. Orange Lutheran (CA) drops one spot to No. 2 after dropping a series but still holds firm at No. 2 in the country. April 21st Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Tague Davis, IF, Louisville  The Louisville Cardinals (22-18) haven’t been able to get themselves in much of a groove this spring, their longest winning streak is 5-games, and they are (4-6) in their last 10-games.  The issue has not been the offense as the Cardinals are averaging over 8-runs per game and Tague Davis is leading the club in virtually every offensive category.  His calling card is his 70-grade power and that was on display last weekend in their series against Cal.  In the three-game series, Davis went 7 for 12, scoring 4 runs, launching 5 home runs and collected 7 RBIs.  The 6-4/220 lefthanded hitter from West Chester, PA has a pure stroke, is one of the premier power hitters in the nation and has significantly improved his plate discipline from a year ago.  After his big weekend, he is...

As the old saying goes, “all good things must come to an end” and that was the case last Tuesday when UCLA (36-3) saw their 27-game win streak come to an end in a shutout loss to UCSB.  However, the No. 1 team in the land still has their 21-game winning streak in Big Ten to protect, as they have started off league play without a single blemish.  The Bruins will remain atop our poll this week and their historical start to the season roll on.  The UNC Tarheels (33-7-1) move up to No. 2 this week after they made their biggest statement of the year by taking the weekend series from now No. 4 Georgia Tech (32-7).  No. 3 Texas (30-8) and No. 5 Georgia (32-9) both went (3-1) on the week and won their SEC series to stay in contention for the regular season title.  Florida State (28-11) had a nice bounce back (4-0) week and re-enter the Top 10 at No. 8 this...
