Carson Morton (2023, Albermarle, N.C.), a big right-handed pitcher, took the mound twice this weekend, first making an appearance on Friday, where he came in relief and recorded two outs. The fastball was jumping out of his hand at 87-89 mph with some serious life to it, working from a high arm slot. Morton took the ball again on Saturday, starting the game while recording six strikeouts, allowing zero hits through 3 2/3 innings pitched. The velocity held steady at 85-87 the whole day on Satuday. He displays a repeatable delivery, with a short arm action and very good extension. Morton's ability to work downhill makes his fastball play very well up in the zone. The curveball showed to be sharp at times with a 11-5 shape and good late life.
