17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1

Canes American’s offense was firing on all cylinders to start the morning slots over at Brook Run and both Xavier McCoury (2025, Charlotte, N.C.) and Noah Franklin (2025, Charleston, S.C.) were very impressive.

McCoury, a USF commit, was on base four times with a couple of walks and two barreled up singles throughout the game. At 5-foot-10, 155-pounds, McCoury is a lean athletic infielder with a pretty true stroke from the left side. It’s loose and tension-free in the hands with easy bat speed and he gets the swing through the zone on time and with natural loft. It’s a really good swing and McCoury is really accurate with the barrel and as he continues to add strength and size to the frame the power will only tick up.
