Showdown Champs Crowned on Sunday

IMG Rolls to Another HS Showdown Title 

American Christian Academy went on an impressive run throughout the bracket, including an upset of nationally ranked Blessed Trinity (GA) in the first round. Their run culminated in a matchup with the #2 ranked team in the country in IMG Academy.  

Things started quickly for IMG with a quick one-two-three inning in the top of the first. The bats would get going quickly in the bottom half as they would put up a pair of runs on a big swing from Michigan commit Joshua Campbell. They would continue to swing it well in the bottom of the 2nd inning as well as MVP Sean Gamble would hit a triple into the gap to drive in another pair to make the lead 4-0.  



The third inning would go quickly with both teams not getting anything going on the offensive side and the arms starting to settle in.  

The fourth inning would be the inning that IMG really started to pour it on and get the eventual run rule victory in the 5th inning. Stanford commit Dillon Moss would get the fourth inning started quickly with a single into left field, his second of three hits on the day. Tennessee commit Nathan Eisfelder and Joshua Campbell would go back-to-back doubles later in the inning to continue a monster half. When the dust settled IMG had put up seven runs and were up 11-0 heading into the fifth inning.  

Oki Hosokawa would relieve Christopher Gist after some impressive innings and would retire the side in order to claim another title for the IMG Academy Ascenders, just a year removed from the first time they hadn’t won the championship at the High School Showdown.  


Parkview Pulls Off a Miraculous Comeback to Win the Red Bracket 

Both Parkview and T.C. Roberson had rolled into the championship, both putting together excellent runs in route to a matchup between two of the southeast’s top teams.  

The game started off quiet as the first inning came and went without much offense. Things would quickly change in the second inning as Ellis Appling would hit a triple into right field and would come around to score the next batter to open the scoring for Parkview. Things would go back quiet in the bottom half and through the third inning as both arms started to really settle in.  

The T.C. Roberson offense would start to pick things up in the bottom of the fourth inning as Caden Davidson hit a leadoff double and would later come in to score on a Chappy Smith single back up the middle. Another run would score later in this half as well and they’d come out of it with a 2-1 lead. T.C. Roberson would add on two more in the bottom of the 5th and one more in the bottom of the 6th, heading into the top of the 7th inning with a 5-1 lead after dominance on the mound from eventual MVP Micah Simpson.  

Things would start rather quickly in the 7th for the Parkview offense after a leadoff single from Ellis Appling. He would come around to score on a single from Miles Norman. An intentional walk of Malachi Washington later in the inning would load up the bases for Kennesaw State commit Emani Ford, who would drive in a pair to tie things up with a two-RBI single. After a strikeout, CJ Woolcock would step up and hit a clutch three run homer to make the score 8-5, the eventual final score after a quiet inning in the bottom of the 7th and Parkview won the Red Bracket.  

 
Hartselle Holds Off Hueytown to Claim White Championship 

Hueytown went on quite the run to make it to the championship game, upsetting top-20 national team in Wesleyan Christian in the opening game and winning two one-run games to get eventual matchup with Hartselle. The arms for Hueytown were the real story, especially Most Valuable Pitcher of the bracket Braden McCrary who threw the ball extremely well each time out.  

The feeling out process for the two teams in the championship game took an inning as the first went by smoothly with little traffic on the base paths. The Hartselle swung it well throughout the event and woke up in the second inning after getting a pair of walks and a single from Witt Crisler would open the scoring in the second inning.  

Things would go back quiet on the offensive side of things as starters Asher Doepel (Hartselle) and William Vaughan (Hueytown) were trading zeroes up until the 5th inning. Doepel would kick off the top of the fifth inning with a single into left field and would eventually come around to score on a double from Cruise Baker to extend the lead to 2-0.  

The top of the 6th inning would start quickly again for Hartselle as Cole Miles would hit a double on the third pitch of the inning and would come around to score on a single back up the middle from Carter Lee to make it 3-0.  

Hueytown would answer quickly in the bottom of the 6th inning. After an infield single to start the half inning, Samuel Vaughan would hit a triple into right field to make it 3-1. Only one pitch later a ground ball to the right side of the infield would bring in Vaughan to make it 3-2.  

Hartselle would bounce back as MVP Easton Nelms would hit a double to lead off the inning and would come around later in the inning to give them a little leeway heading into the 7th inning at 4-2.  

Doepel would continue his dominance in the 7th inning and roll through the side to win the championship and complete the dominant outing.

IMG Academy Takes Home the National Title Every year IMG Academy comes into the spring with top-to-bottom one of the top rosters in the country and every year have the expectation of winning the national championship. Well in 2025 they did just that after finishing the spring 24-1, winning the High School Showdown, and winning 15 straight games to end their season. Their high end offensive ability was on full display throughout the year and they will once again be one of the most talented teams in the country in ’26 as they look to go back-to-back. TBT Phillies Scout run rules for second straight MLK East Championship The 14U TBT Phillies Scout Team overtook A3 Academy Futures 14-6 in the final game to win their second straight 2026 MLK East Championship. MLK West Scout Notes: Days 1-2 Markus Chandler, RHP, Westside HS Class of 2027 A little on the undersized side as a sub 6 footer, but Chandler can generate some velo and spin.  Spun 3 frames of hitless ball for Spects National with zero walks and 6 strikeouts.  Committed to Kansas State, the righty ran the fastball to 92, living 89-92 pumping the zone with 75 percent strikes.  Looked like two different breaking balls, with the SL 80/81 (spin in 2500’s) and curveball 75/76.  No hard contact, little contact at all off the righty in this dominant outing.
