PG Elite Championship Scout Notes

Chris Reed (2030, Conyers, Ga.) took home tournament MVP honors as he was a key catalyst to his Team Elite clubs title run. Reed set the table at the top of the order all week with an impressive 12 hits to go along with his eight walks as he reached base 20 times in just seven games. Reed was not only on base but doing damage along the way with five extra base hits. His right handed swing shows a lot of potential with a level bat path to go along with some projectable bat speed allowing him to create consistent loud contact to all parts of the field.  

Grayson Lightsey (2030, Smyrna, Ga.) picked up some big innings for his 6-4-3 club making multiple appearances over the five day event. Lightsey was seemingly deployed as a fire stopper, being put in, in pivotal spots in the game to get his team out of big spots. Two of Lightsey made two of his appearances in bracket play bringing his week’s totals to four plus innings while not allowing a run, a hit, or a walk during his time on the hill. The fastball ranged in the low to mid 70’s and projects for more as he continues to fill out his young lean frame. The fastball paired with a changeup and breaking ball that he uses to keep hitters off balance.  



Nolan Richardson (2030, Spanish Fort, Ala.) found himself toward the top of the leader board by week's end with a strong showing in all facets of the game. Richardson picked up eight hits in the event with four extra base hits including two long balls. His right handed swing shows solid potential with his combination of bat speed and strength as he was able to consistently get the barrel on the ball and impact the ball with authority to the pull side, where he did most of his damage. He also showed solid upside on the mound where he was up to 80 mph and picked up six innings of work allowing just two earned runs. Richardson’s contributions on both sides of the ball were a huge part in his Gulf Coast Edge’s run to the quarter finals.  

Joel Gifford (2030, Slidell, La.) brings a solid combination of projectability and skill with his long lean frame and offensive skill set. Gifford made his impact felt all throughout the week swinging a hot bat and using his athleticism to impact the game on the bases. He finished the week with eight total hits, scoring eight runs and driving in another seven. Of his eighth hits five went for extra bases including a home run. Once on the bases he used his speed to swipe seven bags.  

Tipton Roop (2029, Madison, Ga.) found himself at the top of the leaderboard by week's end with his consistent offensive performance. With nine hits heading into the championship game to go along with 10 runs batted in he was a key piece in his Team Elite National club’s championship run. The right handed hitting first baseman had a hit in each game with five of his hits going for extra bases. He did a nice job of working from the back side gap to the pull side while hitting the ball where it was pitched and doing damage on the mistakes he saw.  

Evan Killough (2030, Corinth, Miss.) was certainly a name circled on the list coming into the event after making the 12u Select Festival game a year ago. Killough lived up to the title with a strong showing finishing in the top 15 in both the hitting and pitching top performers. Hitting out of the three hole for his EBC club he brings some thump to the lineup with all six of hits going for extra bases. He was able to do his job all week driving in runners with eighth RBI. On the mound his six innings of no hit baseball put him at the top of the pitching leaderboard. He did a nice job of not only filling up the zone with only one walk on the week but did so with quality stuff as the fastball got into the low 80’s topping out at 83 mph.  
 

Kobe Embry (2030, Ragland, Ala.) brings some lightning to the top of the Birmingham Stars lineup with his combination of speed and power. He does a nie job of simplifying his approach with a quiet lower half and allowing his bat speed to produce the power he flashed during the week. Using an all fields approach he was able to spray the ball around the field working from line to line. The power showed up to the pull side, most notably on a two run home run he blasted in the first round of bracket play. He was able to get the barrel to a down and in pitch elevating it out over the left field wall. With the leather he shows solid upside in the outfield where his speed will play along with good routes.  

Collier Goodrich (2030, Knoxville, Tenn.) really stood out as one of the top arms in the event with not only his projectability but his current stuff. He showed an advanced feel for the zone in the 13u age group walking just one batter in four plus innings of work. With his fastball getting into the low 80’s already and feel for a breaking ball he was able to not only challenge hitters but keep them off balance as well. This combination led to nine strikeouts with a sub one WHIP over his two outings. He flashed with the bat as well finishing the week hitting over .400 with an OPS of 1.149.  

Mason Carr (2029, Pike Road, Ala.) was a mainstay behind the plate and in the middle of the Pike Road lineup all week. He brought a level of consistency at two crucial spots for a team that made a deep tournament run, being knocked out in the semi-finals. Carr found his way on base all week with a .550 on base percentage while hitting .385. With his five hits on the week he was able to drive in six runs as he produces consistent hard contact with a well balanced right handed swing. Behind the dish he has smooth glove actions showing an ability to work the ball around the plate and help steal pitches for his pitchers. On top of that his athleticism and flexibility allow him to block and recover while helping keep control of the running game.

Cameron Simpson (2025, Trussville, Ala.) The right-handed hitting utility player put on an impressive showing during the National Elite tournament. Simpson collected nine hits, four doubles, and six runs batted in all while hitting .500 on the weekend. Simpson displays a lot of athleticism on both sides of the baseball and has developed a quick compact swing thus far in his career. Will be very interested to see how things turn out at Bevill State Community College this fall.  

Tyler Correa (2025, Tallahassee, Fla.) A right handed-hitting and throwing utility player out of Tallahassee, Florida put on an absolute clinic this weekend for his team during the National Elite Championship. Correa displayed a smooth and rhythmic load with the ability to create loft within the swing for extra base hits and created chaos on the base paths by stealing five bases. Correa has an athletic frame that he should continue to grow into and could potentially be an impact player at Chipola next year. 

Jake Clifton (2025, Pearl River, La.) The right handed pitcher out of Louisiana displayed a repeatable operation on the mound with the ability to throw strikes at a high volume. During the National Elite tournament, Clifton worked the fastball to the mid to upper 80’s topping out at 90 mph with a short slider and collected eight strikeouts in six innings of work while only allowing one earned run. The Loyola LA commit was constantly able to keep hitting off balance and will be interested to see the amount of impact he has this coming fall. 


Joshua Tuttle (2026, Pelham, Ala.) Right handed pitcher out of Alabama dominated this weekend against some good competition this weekend in the National Elite Championship. Tuttle showed the ability to command his fast ball from a low three-quarter slot in multiple quadrants of the zone and topped 84 mph. Tuttle also mixed in two offspeed pitches that created a lot of weak contact and whiffs during a 5 shutout inning performance shown below. Tuttle, one of the top pitchers in the state, should find a collegiate home soon before graduating. 


Glenn Brooks (2025, Pace, Fla.) Athletic outfielder out of the state of Florida currently committed to Pensacola State Community College. Brooks, a “toolsy” player, showed just that this weekend during the National Elite Championship where he batted .385 with a homer run, double, and an OPS of 1.198. Brooks also showed the ability to steal bases and made tremendous play after another in the outfield for his squad. Will be very interested to see how he fares during his time at Pensacola State Community College.

JD Whitworth (2025, Collierville, Tenn.) had an impressive day at the field on Thursday. He has an athletic build that has room to fill out as he gets into college. The Belmont commit has a smooth swing in the lead off spot that produces a ton of bat speed. Whitworth led off an inning with a no doubter to left field showing his potential for power. He showed good footwork in the middle infield defending his position well. He has been towards the top of the order all weekend and can find ways to get on base and do damage depending on the situation.  
 

Eric Hines (2025, Tuscaloosa, Ala.) proved why he is one of the top players in the country, absolutely unloading on a ball on Thursday that was still climbing as it left the park. The Alabama commit has a big physical frame with a smooth swing that produces lots of bat speed and raw power. Hines has a good tempo at the plate with his swing and shows good patience. He also was able to demonstrate his speed on the bases and in the field taking advantage of the defense and tracking down balls in the outfield.   
 
Luke Willams (2025, Meridian, Miss.) had an impressive outing on the mound for Louisiana Scout getting up to 91 sitting mostly in the upper 80s. He has a projectable athletic frame that will fill out as he goes into college. Williams has a fluid athletic motion on the mound with lots of arm speed. He also flashed a sharp slider that he was able to get ahead with early in counts and bury when he was ahead. Williams finished his day going 4.1 innings only allowing 2 hits and striking out 4. I believe the fastball will continue to tick up throughout his time at East Central CC, so be on the lookout.  

Gabe Jones (2025, Sterrett, Ala.) was dominant in his outing on Thursday getting his fastball up to 91 but sitting mostly 88-91. The Enterprise State commit has a projectable athletic frame and demonstrates his athleticism through his delivery. Jones utilized a breaking ball at 76 and a sharp slider at 82 that he could use in any count. He has a fluid motion on the mound with good repeatability. Jones finished his day going 4 innings allowing zero earned runs on 1 hit punching out 9. This is a name to be on the lookout for as he comes out of Junior College.  


Aiden Arica (2030, Moreno Valley, Calif.) had an impressive day at the plate on Sunday. He has an athletic frame that moves well around the field. The short-stop showed good footwork in the middle making strong clothes across the infield. Arica also showed a very mature approach in the box with a smooth swing with good tempo and rhythm that stays through the ball well. In their first game of Sunday went 1-2 with a hard double off the left field wall. This kid is going to have a very bright future if he keeps progressing. 

Wyatt Schuck (2030, Marietta, Ga.) looked to impress on Sunday going 1-2 but making hard contact all day long. He has an athletic mature frame for his age that moves well around the bases. He also shows really good defense at the hot corner, making spectacular plays with some next level throws across the diamond. Schuck shows a lot of patience in the box and the switch hitter has a smooth swing that stays inside the ball well that allows him to hit hard contact to all parts of the field.

Kenyon Hughes (2025, New Orleans, LA) a dynamic leadoff hitter and versatile defender that can play all over the diamond. Went 11-for-18 with 8 stolen bases across 6 games. A stretch that included 3 multi-hit games. Showed some ability to not only put pressure on a defense but also the drive the baseball with a 2 double game which included a ground-rule-double that one hopped over the 400 ft fence in CF. Made several athletic plays in the field and really showed the ability to create runs this week. Committed to Southern University. 


Evan Burg (2025, Kenner, LA) consistent performer with some highlight moments at National Elite this year. Really balanced swing with hand speed and gets on plane with pitches consistently. Showed some speed when rounding the bases on an inside-the-park HR. The all fields line drive approach really stood out and the ability to get to fundamental hitting spots & put consistent quality swings on the baseball suggest he’ll project well & has a chance to make an impact at the D1 level as early as next spring. Committed to Tulane University. 


Aaron Rowell (2025, Shalimar, FL) hitter with simple pure hit traits and the blend of strength & bat speed to impact the baseball. Put together multiple quality at-bats throughout the tournament, launched a double off the wall in deep LCF and should have a swing that immediately translates to success at the college level. 


Nicholas Peters (2025, Helena, AL) left-handed hitting catcher that showed some ability to catch & throw behind the plate this week. Also had one of the biggest swings of the tournament on a long HR to right field. There’s definite strength to the profile and looks like a potential middle of the order bat. There’s not a lot of catchers around that offer a potential middle of the order profile while hitting from the left side. Look for him to be an immediate impact player at the Juco level next spring. Committed to Bevil State.

Kason King (2025, Winnsboro, LA) some players just always seem to hit and that’s exactly what he did this weekend. Several multi-hit games, a willingness to use the whole field and true bat-to-ball skills that will play well at the college level. There’s some length and strength gains to be had with the frame as well. Has a chance to add some power to the already polished hit tool.

Brody Belanger (2025, Monroe, LA) a physical right-handed hitter that showed the ability to impact the baseball at National Elite. Three of this five hits went for extra bases and had a multi XBH game as well. Balanced compact swing that he extends through well. Versatile defender that can catch, play the infield and potentially hit in the middle of the order at the college level. Committed to Northwestern State.

Cade Durrett (2025, Knoxville, AL) a middle of the order presence with notable physicality and bat speed from the left side. The bat will have to carry the value but this looks like it could be one of the better freshman bats at the Juco level next spring. Had a multi XBH game driving the baseball on a line to RCF gap and consistently felt like a presence in the box throughout the tournament.

Jake Clifton (2025, Pearl River, LA) one of the top overall pitching performances at National Elite this year. Made 2 appearances and in total allowed just 3 baserunners while striking out 8 over 6.1 innings on the mound. Shows a blend of athleticism and developing arm talent on the mound. Consistently worked in the upper 80’s with the fastball and missed bats with a slider. Traits and frame to take another step forward in the coming years at the college level. Committed to Loyola LA.

Jackson Stallworth (2025, Millbrook, AL) one of the more notable left-handed hitting physical presences at National Elite this year. Had 2 multi-hit games and 2 XBH this past week. Just missed several other pitches that potentially had home run distance in foul territory. Real strength and ability to lift the baseball here. Has a real chance to become an immediate impact bat at the Juco level next spring. Committed to Pensacola State. 


Porter Berryman (2025, Lilburn, GA) one of the better pure pitching performances this past week at National Elite. Left-handed pitcher that locates a full pitch-mix well, shows the ability to get hitters off balance and routinely execute pitches at a high level. Fastball worked in the mid 80’s and has been into the upper 80’s in the past. Located the breaking ball to both RHH/LHH. Showed real traits to suggest he can get plenty of out effectively at the college level. Committed to Brown University.

What a year it was in 2025 on the national landscape at the 13u level as Perfect Game continues to expand its reach around the country, providing an even bigger schedule of events coast-to-coast which has allowed players all over show out and gain their deserved recognition. Whether in Texas for the Houston 1000 or the 13u WWBA in West Palm Beach, we saw huge, eye opening performances from the players placed below, knowing that we could EASILY build a third team and likely a fourth without much effort.  As we do every year with this exercise, it's worth pointing out the trickiness of this age group and putting the teams together with the 13u group. Several high end talents either turned down significant money last year or honored strong college commitments, resulting in their arrival on campus this fall. Looking Back at the 2025 Top 10  Matt Barr (‘25 Niagara, ‘26 Minnesota Twins) Bursting onto the scene last winter, footage of an indoor bullpen rocketed Barr onto the radar of many. Lucien Saint Cyr, INF, Class of 2026 Commitment: Bucknell Saint Cyr announced his pledge to Bucknell, giving the Bison an interesting blend of present tools and projection. Saint Cyr stands 6-foot-1 and offers room to fill in his medium frame, profiling in the middle infield defensively. MVPitcher: Duncan McLeod The uncommitted junior toed the slab in three of the four games for Team Mick, tossing 3 2/3 innings.  Zero walks, zero hits and 6 punchouts for the lefty who was used both as a starter in the series clinching game 4 and he closed out game 3 on Friday in quick fashion.  McLeod was very efficient as well, needing just 42 pitches over all his outings.  In the game 4 start, over two innings he punched out 3, with one strikeout with all of his offerings.  The mid 80’s fastball regularly played up, set up with efficient use of the secondaries, with the breaking ball 73/74 and fading change-up 72-74.   Owen Bone (2026) at it again... Player of the Year: Asher Williams It was an incredible year for Williams that was rewarded with a trip to the 14U Select Fest, before some more impressive play in the fall. He came to the plate almost 250 times in PG tournaments throughout 2025 and reached base in well over half of them, hitting to a .500 AVG while slugging a 14U circuit best 12 bombs and driving in 113 runs. The numbers on the surface are ridiculous, but when you look at the high-level events he put them up in, it makes it even more impressive. Pitcher of the Year: Tristan Blalock Blalock earns this honor after a dominant 2025 where he struck out 85 batters in just 48.2 innings of work with a minuscule 1.58 ERA. While we are nearing the turn of the calendar to the 2026 year, that means we are just inching closer to the beginning of the season for many high school players and college baseball is on the horizon. We are prepping for a reshuffle of the 2026 MLB Draft Board as well here amongst the PG Draft staff. But before we get to that, we sat down and have each picked a couple of players who are in the mix to get selected in a couple of different buckets.  We have prospects who could go into the Top 30 picks or so, prospects who could be selected in the Top 5 rounds, and prospects who could go inside of the Top 10 rounds. With the draft quite far down the road and a lot of re-shuffling to be done as these players play themselves into certain spots on the draft board, our scouts picked some players who fit into these “buckets” who are gut-feel guys. Hitter of the Year: Landon Bonner The 2028 class saw many players from across the country take the next step in their development as they entered the High School ranks. There were huge performances from highly ranked players on the PG circuit as well as some under-the-radar guys who burst onto the scene. Landon Bonner came into Sophomore National as a Top 500 ranked player and after an impressive showing, left with all eyes on him as a rankings riser in the class. The left-handed hitting shortstop from The Colony, Texas, had a summer to remember with All-Tournament Team selections in three of his next four events culminating with a historic performance at the 2025 PG 15U WWBA National Championship. The Hebron High School prep went 20-for-24 in nine games for 5 Star Mafia 15U Black with four homeruns and 12 runs batted in. He also scored 17 runs and finished with a mind-boggling 2.500...

Hitter of the Year: Koa Romero is the Hitter of the Year for the 16u group, as he would come to every premier event of the summer and earn All-Tournament honors (Beast of the East, 16/17u WWBA, Jupiter) in every single one. Over 82 plate appearances, Romero would pump ten homeruns with forty two RBI and sixteen walks, good for a .378 average and 1.339 OPS. The performance on volume at the best events of the year pushed Romero over the edge here, as he’d hit a pair of homeruns in Jupiter (one of them at 112 EV) as an underclassmen and collect double digit hits in BOTH WWBA events with a combined six jacks over the two tournaments. It was a summer that combined performance and winning on the biggest stages for Romero. It’s a quiet left-handed swing that packs a punch. He would reap the benefits of his performances, earning a commitment to LSU and jumping to the #74 prospect in...
