Most Likely To Make a Huge Jump in the Rankings in 2026


Wade Cozart (2028, Carlsbad, NM) is a sneaky two-way player that has flown under the radar for now, but looks poised to make a significant jump next year. At the plate, the left-handed hitting Cozart possesses a fluid stroke with sneaky power. He posted an OPS over 1.400 in a smaller sample this summer. While there are some tools on the offensive side, Cozart's highest potential is likely on the mound. The righthander was up to 90 mph in PG events this year already with feel for a slider and changeup shown. He pounds the zone and consistently misses bats. -Tyler Henninger

Will Gnirk (2027, Scottsdale, AZ) had his moments this past summer and fall at the WWBA West, PG World Series and the Fall State Championship. He totaled 9.2 innings in those three outings where he had a 2.25 ERA and thirteen strikeouts. The velo has started to trend in the right direction where he sits in the mid 80s and creeps into the upper 80s. He pairs the fastball with a swing and miss breaking ball that is sharp with big shape and shows above avg. RPMs. Then it’s also about his size and projection where he currently stands at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds with a balanced, easy and loose operation. Wouldn’t shock me at all if we are talking about him as a T15 Arizona player and as an arm that enters more of the national conversation. - JC



Most Likely To Hit .500 at PG Events in 2026
This may be taking the easy way out, but Macgraw VanWormer (2029, Prescott, AZ) is the easy choice. The No. 1 player in the 2029 class, VanWormer possesses a loud offensive skillset. This year, VanWormer hit an absurd .497. The sample size was not small either as he played in 68 games with 151 total at-bats. The profile has a chance to be really special and the hit tool is among the best in the country. -TH 
 

Easton Morgan (2027, Peoria, AZ). Probably would’ve been safer to go with a ‘28 or ‘29 here but I’m riding with Easton Morgan because of how much I’m in on the swing, bat-to-ball skill, swing decisions and just his speed. He slashed .488/.589/.837 in ‘25 with an absurd 10BB/1K in ‘25. His left-handed swing is one of my favorites in the region and the right-handed swing continues to improve. Then there’s his ability to turn infield ground balls into knocks as he gets out the box extremely fast and is above avg. runner. Will also bet on him seeing a rankings jump as I’m expecting a breakout first HS season at Desert Mountain. - JC

Most Likely To Make a Velo Jump into the Mid-90s in 2026
Cooper LeRoy (2028, Gilbert, AZ) has been ranked among the top arms in the state because of his ability to overwhelm hitters. His fastball has worked its way into the low-90’s throughout this summer and is poised to make the jump into the mid-90’s next year. LeRoy possesses a strong 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame that still has room to add, giving him some velocity projection to tap into. It would not be shocking if the young arm is sitting in the mid-90's next year. -TH 
 

Charlie Borchard (2027, Phoenix, AZ). Our scouting staff has gotten plenty of looks at Borchard whether it was during the spring season at Brophy or throughout the tournament circuit. In terms of recent outings, he made relief appearances at the 17u and 18u Fall National Championships where he ran it up to 93 at both events. It’d be tough to believe he’s done with his velo climb as he still stands a uber-projectable 6-foot-4, 175 pounds that still has plenty of room to add some strength. It’s also a relatively low-effort, athletic and repeatable delivery down the mound. The Stanford commit is also a likely candidate to see a rankings jump in ‘26. - JC

Most Likely to Back Up a Breakout in 2025
 

Pratt Morley (2027, Spanish Fork, UT) did not throw in a PG event in 2024, but was stellar throughout the 2025 campaign. The righthander posted a minuscule 0.96 ERA with a near 60% whiff rate and the fastball velocity jumped up to 93 mph. The ingredients are there for Morley to become one of the better arms in the entire region, as he builds of an outstanding 2025 season. -TH 
 

Jace Harrell (2027, Chandler, AZ). I’m continuing to buy Jace Harrell Stock in 2026. Came into this year as a lighter follow but was a standout for our staff during the spring HS season at Chandler and then backed it up with standout tournament performances at 16U WWBA National Championships and WWBA Underclass Worlds Championships which led to a UCSB commitment. There’s a lot to like with the profile as he’s a switch hitting shortstop with a wiry athletic 6-foot-2 build you can dream on. Then it’s some high level offensive skill showing strong swings from both sides and he stays within the strike zone. He slashed .435/.559/.870 in 11 PG games with 7BB/2K in 2025. - JC

Most Likely to Lead the Region in Home Runs in 2026
 

Colton Floyd (2027, Albuquerque, NM) is a physically imposing hitter when he steps in the box, at 6-foot-5, 230-pounds. He can consistently generate loud all-fields contact with the ability to go deep at any moment. Floyd posted a slugging percentage over .600 in PG events this past year and approached .800 mark during his high school season last spring. It would not be a shock to anyone if the Texas A&M commit led the region in long balls next year. -TH 
 

Jake Turner (2027, Las Vegas, NV). This is a pretty safe choice here as there are simply not many hitters in the country that get off swings with as much damage intent as Jake. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound left handed bat creates a ton of separation into launch maximizing stretch where he then unleashes the barrel with easy plus bat speed on an uphill path which translates to some very loud EVs and very long HRs. If he gets to a decent amount of our tourneys next year, I’m confident he’ll turn in a bunch of long balls. - JC

The calendar is just days away from being flipped over to 2026, and while the players may be on break, it’s clear that they are just itching to get back on the field and compete once again, with another season of college baseball right around the corner. For prep players (especially in warm-weather states), the season’s right around the corner, and players will be back on the ball fields sooner than later. All-Star Game Continues To Thrive We’re only a couple of years into having the PG All-Star Game around, an underclass event attached to the All-American weekend, this year played in Petco two days before the Classic. The talent that is a part of it continues to grow to significant levels, and this year was a mix of young guys and some newer names that left lasting impressions. The two hardest throwing guys in the game were the only 2028s in attendance, Striker Pence and Dexter McCleon Jr who both were upper-90s as guys who just started their sophomore year, while the loudest moment of the day came when Kinon Bastian obliterated a pitch into the top deck of the famous Western Supply building in left field, something that we’ll remember for a long time. The LSU Tigers Win It All Again For the second time in the last three years, the LSU Tigers, led by head coach Jay Johnson secured the national title. The national championship was the eight in LUS program history as they swept Coastal Carolina in the MCWS championship series. As a result, Johnson was virtually a unanimous choice for National Coach of the Year on media outlets and is the fastest coach to win multiple CWS championships at a single school. IMG Academy Takes Home the National Title Every year IMG Academy comes into the spring with top-to-bottom one of the top rosters in the country and every year have the expectation of winning the national championship.
