Reds win it all

Reds Midwest Scout Team scored five in the tenth to beat Cangelosi Black 2015 and win it all.  Chris Botsoe (2015, Hinsdale Central, IL) led the attack with two singles and three RBI's.  Scott Kapers (2015, Mount Carmel, IN) drove in two runners with two singles.  Ethan Skender (2015, Metamora, IL) went 3 for 5 with a triple and three RBI's.  Both Cole Daily (2015, Sacred Heart Griffin, IL) and Connor Smith (2015, H.H. Dow, MI) had singles in the win. Trey Schramm (2015, Hampshire, IL) started and lasted 2 1/3 innings.  He struck out two while allowing three hits. His low 80's fastball touched 86 mph.  Cal Jarrett (2015, Dixon, IL) threw three innings.  He fanned three while allowing just a hit. He threw his fastball in the mid 80's and topped out at 87 mph. 

Mark Khoury (2015, Naperville North, IL) led the Black with two singles and an RBI.  Anthony Faron (2015, St Rita of Cascia, IL) went 2 for 3 with a double. 

Big inning advances Gamers to second round

Keyed by a seven-run 3rd inning, the St. Louis Gamers 18u (4-1-1) beat the Top Tier Americans 18u (2-1-1) Sunday afternoon at Jefferson HS to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Three different players recorded multi-hit efforts for St. Louis, including: Ryan Mantle (2015, Linn, MO), Brandon Stuckenschneider (2015, Popular Bluff, MO) and Ben South (2015, Chesterfield, MO). Mantle walked, doubled, stole a base and scored twice, while Stuckenschneider walked and scored a run himself. South walked twice, scored and drove in a game-high four runs, including two on a double in the Gamers' seven-run 3rd inning.

Western Michigan commit Jesse Forestell (2015, Homewood, IL) hit a two-run homer to put Top Tier on the board in the 1st inning. Teammates Eric Giltz (2015, Warrenville, FL) and Hunter Fiorito (2015, Ottawa, IL) recorded two hits each. Giltz doubled and plated a run from the leadoff spot; Florito showed off his power with two extra-base hits: a double and a triple.

RHP John Howard (2015, St. Louis, MO) pitched all 6.0 innings for the Gamers, striking out five. The 6-foot, 190-pounder pounded the zone at 81-84 mph, peaking at 85. Howard also flashed a few mid-70s breaking pitches and a mid-70s changeup. 

His opposing counterpart on the mound, RHP Hank Christie (2016, Oak Park, IL) fanned a pair in 2.0 innings. Christie worked in the 81-84 mph range, while offering a handful of low-70s breaking pitches.

Reds Midwest Scout Team scored four in the fourth to beat St Louis Gamers 18U 5-1. Mitch Boe (2015, Joliet Catholic, IL) led the attack with a single that plated two runs. Tyler Paulsen (2015, Minooka Community, IL) helped out by tripling in two runners. Malcolm Grady (2015, Homewood Flossmoor, IL ) took care the Gamers offense.  In seven innings, he struck out four and allowed just three hits. His high 80's heater reached 89 mph. 

Michael Plassmeyer (2015, De Smet Jesuit, MO) started for the Gamers.  In five innings, he struck out six while allowing a walk. 

Talarico leads Black to finals

Robert Talarico (2015, Joliet West, IL) threw a one hitter for Cangelosi Black 2015 in their 8-0 win over Chicago White Sox Ace.  He struck out four while not walking a single batter in five innings of work. Richard Bryza (2015, Plainfield North, IL) led the offense with two hits including a double.  Alex Ragusa (2015, Joliet Catholic Academy, IL) drove in two runs with a single.  Alex McGimpsey (3025, Glenbard South, IL) went 1 for 1 and plated three runners.

Gerald Powell (2016, Kenwood Academy, IL) started and lasted an inning. He fanned a batter but walked two. His fastball was in the mid 80's and touched 87 mph. Angelo Smith (2016, HL Richards, IL) threw three innings for ACE.  He struck out two while allowing two hits.

Reds Midwest Scout Team just slips past Iowa Select Navy to advance to the semi's.  Joshua Stowers (2015, Mount Carmel, IL) had a great day at the plate with three hits including a double.  Tyler Paulsen (2015, Minooka Community, IL) and Cole Daily (2015, Sacred Heart Griffin, IL) both had two singles in the win.  Jeremy Orbik (2015, Homewood Flossmoor, IL) started and lasted six innings. He struck out four while allowing four hits. He threw his heater in the mid 80's and it reached 88 mph. Peyton Isaacson (2015, Galesburg, IL) came in and threw a perfect seventh by fanning two.

Grant Judkins (2016, Pella, IA) threw for the Navy.  He struck out four while allowing just two walks.

St. Louis Gamers 18U late inning runs help them beat Rawlings Hitters National Baseball Club 2016's.  Chandler Purcell (2015, Gibault Catholic, IL) led the attack with two hits including a double and three RBI's.  Storme Cooper (2015, Timberland, MO) went 2 for 4 and drove in a run.  Blake Clynes (2015, Eureka, St. MO) pitched six innings, He struck out four while allowing just two walks.

 Cyrillo Watson (2016, South Milwaukee, WI) led Rawlings with two singles.  Tanner Stormmen (2016, Burlington, WI) drove in a run with a hit. Watson also threw an inning. He struck out two but walked three. His heater was in the mid 80's and touched 88 mph.

Cangelosi Black 2015 slipped past GRB Easton Rays in their 5-3 win and move on to semi finals.  Brenton Villasenor (2015, Providence Catholic, IL) started and pitched a perfect first inning. Tom Hickey (2015, Lyons Twp, IL) came in next. In six innings of work, he struck out six and allowed three hits.  Mark Khoury (2015, Naperville North, IL) led the offense with two singles. 

Grant Frazer (2016, Oconto, WI) threw for the Rays. He struck out four while allowing three walks and seven hits in six innings of work. His heater was between 82-85 mph. Alex Henwood (2015, Appleton, WI) went 2 for 3 with a double.  Ben Carew (2016, Kimberly, WI) drove in two runs with a single.

In an offensive game, Iowa Select Navy edges Team Nebraska 9-8. Joey Polak (2016, Quincy Notre Dame, IL) led the attack with two singles and three RBI's.  Grant Judkins (2016, Pella, IA) pitched in with a double that plated two runs.  Kyle Crowl (2016, Abraham Lincoln, IA) went 2 for 3 with a triple. Spencer Wiskus (2016, Iowa City West, IA) also had two singles and came around to touch home plate twice.  Max McCay (2016, Carlisle, IA) joined in on the action with two hits and an RBI.  Chris Comito (2015, Norwalk, IA) threw 4 1/3 innings, He struck out six while allowing seven hits. His fastball was in the mid 80's and touched 87 mph.

As for Nebraska, Cole Stobbe (2016, Millard West, NE) had two hits including a homer and three RBI's.  Michael Helman (2015, Lincoln Pius X, NE) pitched in with two hits, one being a double. Owen Gubbles (2016, Waverly, NE) doubled in three runs.  Parker Upton (2016, Grand Island Senior, NE) went 2 for 3 in the loss. Logan Foster (2016, Lincoln Southwest, NE) started and lasted 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four but walked four.  His heater was between 83-85 mph and reached 87. 

Gamers Survive Late Rally, Win 8-7

The St. Louis Gamers had to sweat out a five-run final inning from the MN Barnstormers as they hold on for a 8-7 victory. The Gamers offense knocked in 12 hits from eight different batters with Weston Schad (2017, Westminster Christian Academy, MO) and Kade Burns (2017, Edwardsville HS, IL) leading the way. Schad had a perfect game at the plate, going 3-3 and knocking two of those hits for doubles with Burns adding in a 2-3 game with two RBIs, two runs scored, a walk and a double. 

Jordan Bonk (2017, Chanhassen HS, MN) sparked the Barnstormers' offense with a perfect 3-3 game of his own, crossing the plate twice to log two runs scored to go with a stolen base and a double play on defense Jacob Mischke (2015, St. Thomas Academy HS, MN) turning his one hit into a three-run homer to kick off the rally in the final inning. 

Ben Maurer (2017, Waterloo HS, IL) took home the win for the Gamers after tossing three innings from the mound. Maurer threw just 30 pitches and allowed two hits and no runs while walking one, striking out three and logging a strike on 70 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 72 mph and topping out at 76 mph. 

Hobbs Takes 8-5 Win Over Cougars

The Mac-N-Seitz Hobbs put together a consistent scoring game, putting up a run in five of the seven innings as they took a 8-5 win over the Upper Deck Cougars despite committing six fielding errors. The Hobbs' offense logged ten hits from five different players with Cooper Marks (2016, Blue Vally North HS, KS) leading the way with a standout game at the plate. Marks finished a perfect 3-3 with a game-high four RBIs and one run scored thanks to a double and a solo home run. 

Nathan Wiles (2015, Blue Valley Southwest HS, KS) took home the win for the Hobbs after tossing the first four innings from the mound. The Oklahoma commit threw 71 pitches and allowed two hits and three runs, all earned, while walking one, striking out one and logging a strike on 68 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 84 mph. 

Iowa Select Black Take Out Koutnik 8-3

The Iowa Select Black overcame a sloppy fielding day (four fielding errors) with a huge seven run second inning as they take down the Team Demarini-Koutnik 8-3. The Select offense knocked in eight hits from six different players with Nolan Reinhardt (2015, Dowling Catholic HS, IA) leading the way. Reinhardt had a powerful day at the plate, going 2-3 with a game-high three RBIs and two runs scored thanks to a double and a home run. Alec Bohm (2015, Roncalli Catholic HS, NE) added in a 2-3 game of his own for the Select, logging two RBIs and a run scored to complement Reinhardt. 

Zachary Daniels (2015, John F. Kennedy HS, IA) took home the win for the Select after tossing the first five inning from the mound. Daniels threw 75 pitches and allowed two hits and three runs, one earned, while walking two and striking out five with a fastball averaging 84 mph and topping out at 87 mph. 

Blizzard Prevails Over Pride 6-5

The Minnesota Blizzard Black was outhit 7-9 and committed more turnovers than the Motor City Pride but was still able to pull out the win 6-5 thanks to a four-run fourth inning The Blizzard offense was sparked by a perfect game at the plate by Tyler Fedlund (2016, Mounds View HS, MN), who finished 2-2 with three runs scored, two stolen bases, an RBI and a walk. Mike Falter (2016, Lake Orion Community HS, MI) motored the Pride offense with two doubles to finish 2-3. 

Clayton Bodine (2015, Wayzata HS, MN) took home the win for the Blizzard for throwing the first four and a third innings from the mound. Bodine threw 61 pitches and allowed six hits and three runs, all earned, while walking one and striking out four with a fastball averaging 76 mph and topping out at 79 mph. 

Longshots Blank Academy 7-0

Longshots Baseball jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning and didn't let off the reigns, coasting to a 7-0 shutout win over the Advanced Baseball Academy Prospects. The Longshot offense knocked in 11 hits from nine different players with Zack Radde (2015, Downers Grove South HS, IL) leading the way at the plate. Radde finished perfect in the box, going 2-2 with an RBI, a run scored and a double. 

Sean Frontzak (2015, Montini Catholic HS, IL) took home the win for the Longshots after tossing the first four innings from the mound. Frontzak threw 54 pitches and allowed two hits and no runs while walking two and striking out five with a fastball averaging 80 mph and topping out at 84 mph. 

Elite Cruise to 6-0 Win

The Elite Baseball Training-2016 blanked the Midwest Rangers National and took a 6-0 shutout win after forcing four fielding errors. The Elite offense knocked in six hits from four different players with Tommy Szczasny (2016, Lincoln-Way North HS, IL) and Garrett Acton (2016, Lemont Twp HS, IL) leading the way on offense. Both players posted twin 2-3 stat lines with an RBI as Szczasny added in a stolen base. 

Nick Stefanowicz (2016, Notre Dame College Prep HS, IL) took home the win for the Elite after throwing the first four innings from the mound, allowing no hits or runs while walking three and striking out one with a fastball averaging 74 mph and topping out at 76 mph. 

Pirates Overcome Pound Town, Take 7-5 Win

The St. Louis Pirates had to withstand a huge five-run first inning from Pound Town Baseball, but were able to hold them scoreless the rest of the way as they fought back for a 7-5 win. The Pirate offense knocked in nine hits from seven different players with five of those hits going for extra bases. Jordan McFarland (2016, Guibalt Catholic HS, IL) provided the power to the Pirates with a perfect 2-2 game at the plate while picking up a game-high four RBIs, a run scored and a walk to go with his double and home run. Matt Simmerman (2015, Eastern HS, IN) sparked the Pound Town offense with a 2-3 game at the plate while logging two RBIs, a run scored and two doubles. 

Matt Palmer (2015, Christian Brothers College HS, MO) picked up the win for the Pirates after spending one inning of relief work on the mound. Palmer tossed 12 pitches and allowed no hits, walks or runs with one strikeout. 

ACE Takes Offensive Shootout 9-7

The Chicago White Sox ACE and the Pro Player Canes 17U put on an offensive showcase on a sloppy fielding day with a combined 22 hits and nine fielding errors with ACE coming out on top 9-7. The ACE offense put up 13 hits from seven different players with five players logging a multi-hit stat line. Jeremy Houston (2016, Mt. Carmel HS, IL) led the way offensively for ACE with a 3-4 game at the plate, logging two RBIs, two runs scored, a double and two stolen bases. Nick Heidenthal (2015, Grant Community HS, IL) sparked the Canes' offense with a 3-4 game of his own, knocking in an RBI and a run scored thanks to a double and a triple.

Tyler Laux (2016, Lincoln Way East HS, IL) took home the win from the mound for the White Sox ACE bullpen after coming in and tossing the final three and a third innings. Laux threw 69 pitches and allowed six hits and three runs, two earned, while walking two and striking out three with a four-pitch rotation featuring a cutter and a fastball averaging 78 mph and topping out at 82 mph. 

Acceleration Fend Off Cangelosi, Win 4-2

Team Acceleration needed a three-run third inning to hold off the Cangelosi Silver 2015 and take a 4-2 win despite committing four fielding errors. The Acceleration offense knocked in seven hits from five different players with Christian Ebeling (2016, Wheaton Academy, IL) leading the way. Ebeling finished 2-3 at the plate and picked up a run scored and a double. Nick Rogalski (2015, Batavia HS, IL) added in a 2-3 game at the plate of his own with two runs scored and a stolen base. 

Iowa Select Red Power Past Cavaliers

The Iowa Select Red responded to a two-run third inning by the 68's Inside Sports Cavaliers with a four run fourth inning to take back the lead for good as they push for a 5-2 win. The Select offense knocked in five hits, all from different players, with all but one going for extra bases as Matthew Cox (2015, Bettendorf HS, IA) turned his one hit into the best stat line with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. 

Jack Rasmussen (2015, Ankeny HS, IA) took home the win for the Select after tossing the first five innings from the mound. Rasmussen threw 57 pitches and allowed three hits and two runs, both earned, while walking none, striking out three and logging a strike on an astounding 79 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 81 mph and topping out at 84 mph. 

Cangelosi Drops Elite 9-4

The Cangelosi Black 2016 used a six-run sixth inning to secure the game and take a 9-4 win over the Elite Baseball Training-2015. The Cangelosi offense was outhit 7-9 but was able to take advantage of three Elite fielding errors. Michael Massey (2016, Brother Rice HS, IL) sparked the Cangelosi offense with a 2-3 game at the plate, logging two runs scored, two walks, a double and a triple with a double play on defense. Sam Ferri (2016, Notre Dame College Preparatory HS, IL) powered the Elite offense with a perfect game at the plate, finishing 4-4 with a game-high four RBIs, a double and a stolen base.

Jake Jones (2017, Brother Rice HS, IL) took home the win for the Cangelosi after spending two innings on the mound. Jones tossed 32 pitches and allowed three hits and two runs, both earned, while walking two and striking out one with a fastball averaging 75 mph and topping out at 77 mph.

Christian Bullock (2016, Morgan Park, IL) led the Chicago White Sox Ace to a 5-2 win over Illinois Indians.  He went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI's.  Lerenzo Elion (2016, Simeon Career Academy, IL) singled home a run. Alonzo White (2016, Lincolnway East, IL) pitched for the Sox. In seven innings, he struck out five while allowing four hits. 

Zachary Nussbaum (2016, Roosevelt, WA) led the Indians with two singles.  Jack Suwinski (2016, Taft, IL) had a triple and came around to score twice.

GRB Easton Rays topped Top Tier Americans 17U 4-1.  Keith Kutzler (2016, Kenosha, WI) started and lasted 4 2/3 innings.  He struck out three while allowing four hits.  His heater was in the mid 80's and touched 87 mph. Mitchell Weber (2015, Oregon, WI) came in to finish the game. He struck out two and allowed a hit in an inning of work. Alex Henwood (2015, Appleton, WI) tripled in a run. 

Austin Butts (2015, Woodstrock, IL) led the Americans with a double and an RBI. Reese Dolan (2016, Mundelein Cons, IL) threw 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three while allowing just two hits.

Emmanuel Jeffery (2016, Linn-Mar, IA) led the Iowa Select Royal to a 10-2 win over DuPage Training Academy Wildcats. He had two singles and drove in two runs.  Cameron Hoeg (2017, North Tama, IA) pitched and lasted four innings. He struck out three while allowing just two hits.

Zach Colangelo (2016, Wheaton North, IL) singled in two runs for the Wildcats. He also threw four innings. He struck out four while walking four.

Alex Millhisler leads his team, Motor City Pride, to a 7-5 win over Iowa Select Royal.  He struck out five while walking two in six innings.  Matt Clark (2015, Adrian, MI) led the offense with a double that drove in two runs.  Kyle Best (2015, Gabriel Richard, MI) went 2 for 2 including a double. 

Tyler Hillman (2017, Pella, IA) led Iowa with two hits including a double and two RBI's.  Emmanuel Jeffery (2016, Linn-Mar, IA) went 2 for 3 and drove in a run.

SF Giants Scout Team plated seven in the fifth and went on to beat Rhino Baseball 9-6. Tanner Reboulet (2015, Fishers, IN) went 1 for 2 and drove in three runs.  Brooks Ullery (2015, Penn, IN) pitched in with two singles.  Brandon Yoho (2015, Fishers, IN) doubled in a run. 

Owen Starr (2016, Bradley-Bourbonnais, IL) led the Rhinos with two singles.  Alexander Herbst (2016, Hinsdale Central, IL) went 2 for 4 and plated a run.  Joe Cliver (2016, Hortonville, WI) singled in two runs. Damon Bartos (2015, Providence Catholic, IL) threw four innings. He struck out seven while not allowing a hit.

Zumwait South, MO) did his part with three hits including a double.  Jordan McFarland (2016, Gibault Catholic, IL) went 2 for 3 and came around to score twice. Jacob Jaycox (2015, Hazelwood West, MO) started and lasted four innings. He struck out five while allowing three hits. His fastball was between 83-87 mph.

Kevin Dion (2015, Huron Heights, ON) had a perfect day at the plate for Ontario Blue Jays in their 8-0 win over Hard Knox Baseball.  He had three singles and drove in a run.  Max Hewitt (2015, Eastview SS, ON) also had three hits and plated a run.  Sean McVeigh (2016, Gordon Graydon Memorial, ON) doubled in two runs.  Jacob Jones (2015, Meadowvale, ON) did his part with a two hits including a double.

Noah Burkholder (2015, Crown Point, IN) started for Elite. In four innings of work, he struck out six while just giving up one hit.  His mid 80's fastball reached 90 mph.  Kyle Ostrowski (2015, Lincoln Way West, IL) came in and threw the rest of the game. He struck out three while allowing five hits.  He threw his heater between 84-87 mph.

Zach Abfall (2015, Bay Port, WI) went 3 for 4 for Rawlings Hitters National Baseball Club 2015's in their 10-3 win over Top Tier Nationals 17U.  He had a double, triple and drove in three runs.  Zach Bailey (2015, Parker, WI) pitched in with two singles. Owen Miller (2015, Ozaukee, WI) had a single and double and also plate a run . Nickolas Lackney (2015, Whitefish Bay, WI) threw seven quality innings. He fanned an impressive 12 Nationals while allowing four hits and one walk.

Early runs help Rawlings Hitters National Baseball Club 2016's beat DuPage Training Academy Wildcats 4-2. Justin Lavey (2016, Tremper, WI) led the offense with two hits and drove in a run.  Jacob DeLabio (2016, Tremper, WI) threw five innings. He struck out six while allowing just two hits.He threw his heater between 81-84 mph and topped out at 85.  Matt McCarty (2016, South Milwaukee, WI) came in and threw a perfect sixth and seventh.  He wrung up three Wildcats.  His low 80's fastball reached 85 mph. 

Joey Roberson (2016, South Elgin, IL) started for the cats. He struck out three and gave up one hit. 

MAP and Gamers tie

In a pitching duel, neither team could plate a run as MAP Baseball and St Louis Gamers 18U tie.  Cole Williams (2015, Southwest, MN) threw for MAP. He struck out four while allowing four hits in seven innings of work.

Zach Bourseg pitched for the Gamers.  In seven innings, he fanned seven and did not walk a single batter. 

Mougin does it all

Nicholas Mougin (2016, Prairie, IA) threw a complete game for PG Iowa Steel in their 8-2 win over Minnesota Blizzard Black.  He struck out eight while allowing just four hits.  He also helped out on the offensive with two doubles.  Izaya Ono-Fullard (2017, Iowa City West, IA) pitched in with a single, triple and three RBI's.  Javin Drake (2016, Wilton, IA) went 2 for 2 and plated two runs. 

Lawson Zenner (2016, Prior Lake, MN) threw four innings fort he Blizzards.  He struck out three while not walking a batter.

Danny Ehrsam (2015, Joliet Catholic, IL) pitched for the Longshots. In 6 1/3 innings, he struck out six while walking two. His fastball was between 81-84 mph and touched 85. Anthony Fundukian (2015, Bishop Noll, IN) tripled in a run on the offensive side.

Pitching dominated in a game that saw the Top Tier Americans 18u and Rhino Baseball play to 1-1 tie Saturday morning at Central City HS. 

RHP Steven Skolarz (2015, New Lenox, IL) struck out nine in 7.0 innings (92 pitches/68 strikes) for the Top Tier Americans. His fastball sat in the 83-86 mph range, while his curve was clocked in the upper-60s.

LHP Brent Headrick (2016, Frankfort, IL) struck out six in 5.2 innings of one-run ball for Rhino Baseball. He allowed five hits and no walks, while working in the 82-84 mph range.

Matt Bottcher (2016, Frankfort, IL) led all players with three hits for Rhino Baseball, including the game-tying RBI in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Bulls prevail, 5-4, in game that featured 3 HRs

In a game that featured three home runs, the one off the bat of Luke Shilling (2015, Clarkston, MI) proved to be the difference in the Michigan Bulls' 5-4 win over Team Nebraska Saturday morning in Iowa City. Schilling drove in three, one on a groundout in the 1st, another on his solo shot in the 3rd, and his RBI single in the 5th capped the Bulls' scoring in a back-and-forth game.

Logan Foster (2016, Lincoln, NE) and Cole Stobbe (2016, Omaha, NE) homered for Team Nebraska, who fell to 2-1 after Saturday morning's loss.

RHP Ryan Junker (2015, Lincoln, NE) struck out seven in 5.0 innings (91 pitches/57 strikes) for Team Nebraska. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder worked in the 79-82 mph range while also offering an upper-60s curve and flashing a low-70s changeup.

RHP Jake Velisek (2015, Clarkston, MI) fanned eight batters in 6.0 innings for Michigan. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder displayed a smooth delivery with good use of his lower half, firing strikes at 76-80 mph with good sink. Velisek changed speeds well, also offering a low-70s curve and a low-70s changeup.

Blizzard Use No-Hitter for 5-0 Win

The Minnesota Blizzard Black got a no-hitter from pitcher Chris Witzke (2016, Humbolt HS, IA) as they shut out the Longshots Baseball 5-0. Witzke tossed the full game, throwing 93 pitches and allowing no hits or runs while walking three, striking out an astounding 14 batters and logging a strike on 69 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 77 mph and topping out at 79 mph. The Blizzard offense made the most of only four team hits, all from different players with Trevor Moses (2016, Mahtomedi HS, MN) picking up two RBIs from his double to set the bar offensively.

The Iowa Select Black and Team Acceleration battled to a 1-1 tie with both teams knocking in five hits from four batters apiece. The Select offense was unable to log an RBI and was hindered by an outstanding day on the mound by Acceleration hurler Josh Garner (2016, Plainfield North HS, IL). Garner tossed five innings and allowed four hits and one unearned run while walking one and striking out eight with a fastball averaging 81 mph and topping out at 84 mph.

PoundTown Rallies Late, Wins 6-4

Pound Town Baseball needed five runs in the final two innings to rally back and take a 6-4 win over Midwest Rangers National. Pound Town lost the hit battle after knocking in seven hits by six batters and allowing eight hits. PoundTown used a balanced attack with four of their seven hits going for extra bases as Alec Marsh (2016, Reagan College Preparatory HS, WI) knocked his hit for a two-run homer. Max Franklin (2016, St. Rita of Cascia HS, IL) paced the Rangers attack, going a perfect 3-3 at the plate with an RBI, a run scored and a double.

Austin Mihlbauer (2017, Mukwonago HS, WI) picked up the win after relieving Marsh in the final inning. Mihlbauer tossed only one inning but allowed one hit and no runs or walks while striking out one. Franklin tossed the full game for the Rangers and allowed seven hits and six runs, four earned, while walking six and striking out nine with a fastball averaging 84 mph and topping out at 87 mph.

Canes Cruise to Blowout Win

The Pro Player Canes 17U put up all nine runs in the third inning as they take a 9-1 blowout win over the Cangelosi Silver 2016. The Canes offense knocked in six hits from five different players with Michael Borst (2015, Mchenry-West Campus HS, IL) leading the way. Borst finished with the game's only multi-hit stat line, going 2-3 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored as Josh Krueger (2015, Romeoville HS, IL) and Dustin Thelander (2015, Prairie Ridge HS, IL) logged two RBIs apiece for the Canes. 

Krueger also picked up the win for the Canes after tossing the first four innings from the mound, allowing four hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out seven with a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 82 mph. 

Rawlings Blank Blizzard 2-0

The Rawlings Hitters National Baseball Club 2016's blanked the Minnesota Blizzard Blue to take the win 2-0. Both teams knocked in three hits apiece with TD Walker (2016, Milwaukee Lutheran HS, WI) picking up both RBIs for the Hitters as the Hitter defense turned six double plays to limit the Blizzard offense.

Elite Baseball Training-2015 held DuPage Training Academy Wildcats to just two hits in their 9-1 win. Joseph Uvelli (2015, Ridgewood Comm, IL) started and lasted three innings. He fanned five while not allowing a hit. His low 80's fastball touched 85 mph. Sam Ferri (2015, Notre Dame, IL) came in to throw the rest of the game.  In three innings, he struck out four while giving up a walk. He threw his heater between 85-87 mph.  Michael Ferri (2015, Notre Dame College Prep, IL) led the offense with two hits including a double.  Cory Wright (2015, St. Charles North, IL) pitched in with a single and a triple. He also drove in a run.

Jared Lingl (2015, Schaumburg, IL) pitched four innings. He struck out two while not allowing a walk.

Chicago White Sox ACE waited until the late innings but they beat Ontario Blue Jays 9-5. Joshua Shaw (2016, Morgan Park, IL) led the attack with three singles and an RBI.  Ben Collazo (2017, Lake View, IL) pitched in with two hits and drove in two runs.  John Marano (2016, Downers Grove South, IL) went 2 for 3 in the win. 

Dalton Clarke (2015, Sir William Mulock, ON) led the Blue Jays with two hits including a double and an RBI. Julian Nolfi (2016, Humberside C.I., ON) doubled in two runs. Brady Cappe (2016, Assumption, ON) started and lasted five innings. He struck out three while walking just one. 

Gamers Coast to 7-1 Win

The St. Louis Gamers jumped out to an early lead, scoring all seven of their runs in the first four innings as they cruised to a 7-1 win over the Top Tier Nationals 17U. The Gamers offense knocked in 12 hits from nine different players Chandler Purcell (2015, Guilbault Catholic HS, IL) and Ben South (2015, Central HS, MO) leading the way. Both players finished 2-3 with Purcell powering his way to three RBIs as South added in two RBIs of his own. The Nationals had a bright spot on the defensive end as they turned six double plays to limit the damage done by a powerful Gamer offense. 

Michael Plassmeyer (2015, De Smit Jesuit HS, MO) took home the win for the Gamers after tossing the first four innings from the mound. Plassmeyer, a University of Missouri commit, tossed 57 pitches and allowed one hit and no runs while walking one, striking out ten and logging a strike on 75 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 82 mph.

Julian Alverio (2015, Case, WI) pitched six solid innings for Rawlings Hitters National Baseball Club 2015's in their 6-1 win over MAP Baseball. He fanned 10 while allowing five hits. On the offensive side, Zach Abfall (2015, Bay Port, WI) went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Jalen McMillan pitched in with a single that plated two runs.  Henry Davies (2015, Whitefish Bay, WI) helped out with a single and a double. 

Joseph Pomije (2015, Prior Lake, MN) threw for the MAP. In seven innings, he struck out four while walking four batters.  Steven Fitzsimmons (2016, Robbinsdale Cooper, MN) had two singles in the loss. 

Cougars Shut Out 68's 5-0

The Upper Deck Cougars blanked the 68's Inside Sports Cavaliers to take a 5-0 win behind a solid showing from the mound and a sloppy game from the Cabaliers defense after they committed six fielding errors. Both teams knocked in three hits with Dylan Knutsen (2017, Hanover Central HS, IN) leading all batters with a standout game at the plate for the Cougars. Knutsen finished 2-3 and logged two RBIs, and a run scored after knocking his hits for a double and a homer. 

Dan Zahorsky (2016, Lake Central HS, IN) took home the win for the Cougars after tossing a complete game from the mound, tossing 78 pitches and allowing three hits and no runs or walks while striking out five with a curveball and a fastball averaging 73 mph and topping out at 77 mph. Zahorsky showed command all around both sides of the plate with all his pitches, a well-working arm with smooth mechanics and a sound delivery while highlighting his high ceiling and good makeup. 

Phillies Scout Team Roll to 9-3 Win

The Philadelphia Phillies Midwest Scout Team got the offense rolling early with four runs in the third as they cruised to a 9-3 win over the St. Louis Pirates. The Phillies knocked in 11 hits from seven different players with Addison Fugitt (2016, Normal Community HS, IL) leading the way. Fugitt led all batters with a 3-4 game at the plate while picking up two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. 

Alex Weigand (2015, Bradley-Bourbonnais Community HS, IL) took home the win for the Phillies bullpen after tossing the first four innings of the game from the mound. Weigand allowed three hits and one unearned run on 65 pitches while walking two and striking out two with a four-pitch rotation featuring a fastball averaging 83 mph and topping out at 86 mph.

Cangelosi Black 2015's late push helps them beat Iowa Select Royal 3-2.  Mark Khoury (2015, Naperville North, IL) went 2 for 3 in the win.  Patrick Meehan (2015, Marist, IL) started and threw 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four while walking two. Aaryn Chandler (2015, Mount Carmel, IN) threw the rest of the game.  He k'ed five while allowing six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The Reds Midwest Scout Team made the most of only two team hits and was able to overcome three fielding errors as they took a 2-1 win over the Cangelosi Black 2016. Connor Smith (2015, H.H. Dow HS, MI) powered one Red hit for a homer to lead all batters. 

Jordan Johnston (2015, Lockport Township East HS, IL) took home the win for the Reds for his three innings on the mound to start out the game. Johnston tossed 36 pitches and allowed one hit and one unearned run while walking one and striking out four with a fastball averaging 83 mph and topping out at 86 mph.
