The Nelson Baseball School 16's defeated the Triton Rays 16U 7-6 to win the 2014 16U Labor Day Tournament at Lake Point. Alex Prosser (2017, East Paulding HS, GA) led the way for Nelson showing a short, compact swing and good bat speed going 2-2 with 1 triple, 1 double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Jamison Wilks (2017, North Paulding HS, GA) added in a 2-2 game with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base and 1 walk performance at the plate. Jamie Boatright (2017, Hillgrove HS, GA) also showed well going 1-3 with 2 RBI and 1 stolen base, while Tyler Stevens (2017, Kennesaw Mountain HS, GA) went 1-2 with 1 triple and 1 run scored.
Ty DeLancey (2017, East Paulding HS, GA) earned the win for Nelson as he started the game and went 2 innings on the mound. DeLancey was aggressive with his 72-75/76 mph fastball and mixed in a late-breaking 63-67 mph curveball.
For the Rays, Hunter Reeves (2017, Charles Henderson HS, AL) showed a live bat to go with good bat speed as he went 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk. Koree Peppers (2017, Winder-Barrow HS, GA) went 1-2 at the plate with 1 double, 2 runs scored and 1 walk. Also having a big day was Hunter Brackin (2017, Enterprise HS, AL) who went 1-2 with 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 1 walk. Evan Barber (2017, Central HS, AL) used a quiet hitting approach and a short, compact swing to go 2-3 with 1 run scored.
