2025 Top Prospects

Max Luzarraga  RHP - 2025 - Matthews, NC
Dallas Baptist

Luzarraga showed out in his three innings of work on the mound, retiring eight batters on strikes while running his fastball up to 91 mph. The heater showed low riding action with spin nearing 2500 rpm, and was successfully paired with his upper-70s slider. The 6-foot-1 right-hander has very intriguing arm talent, along with an advanced spin profile on his stuff.

Sam Schwamb  C - 2025 - Fort Mill, SC
North Carolina A&T

Schwamb showcased legitimate arm strength behind the dish with consistent one-hop accuracy to the bag. He recorded arm strength up to 85 mph with a pop time of 1.90 sec. On offense, the 6-foot-1 righty hitter produced consistent contact to all fields during batting practice and added a few loud knocks during live action. Schwamb also posted an exit velocity of 92 mph and ran a 6.86 sixty-yard dash.

Nick Russo  RHP - 2025 - Matthews, NC
Gardner-Webb

Russo punched out four batters through two efficient innings while running his fastball up to 90 mph. The heater showed easy life out of the hand and was sequenced effectively with two unique breaking balls. The 6-foot-4 215-pound right-hander projects a ton from a velocity and physicality point of view.

Cooper Phillips  3B - 2025 - Clayton, NC
Gaston College

Phillips went right after hitters with his fastball, which ultimately peaked at 88 mph while being located on both sides of the plate. The 6-foot right-hander also showed feel for both of his breaking pitches, which induced a couple of uncomfortable swings from opposing hitters. His arm strength was on display during the fielding portion as well, where he ran it up to 90 mph across the diamond.

Ryan Allen  SS - 2025 - Greensboro, NC
North Carolina A&T

Allen found the barrel in almost every at-bat during live action as the 6-foot-1 right-handed hitter sprayed line drives all over the diamond. He also flashed the leather at shortstop, where he made several difficult plays appear routine. Allen showcased plenty of range and athleticism in the dirt, along with advanced adjustability.

Davis Cook  RHP - 2025 - Greensboro, NC

Cook struck out three batters through three scoreless innings while running his sinking fastball up to 87 mph. His slider was sequenced in well, showing abrupt movement with spin up to 2600 rpm. The 6-foot right-hander displayed impressive feel for both pitches as he induced several swings and misses early and late in counts. Cook also ran a 7.12 sixty-yard dash.

Bryce Smith  LHP - 2025 - Timberlake, NC
Carson-Newman University

Smith has surreal movement on his fastball, which runs and sinks violently against opposing barrels. The 6-foot-3 left-hander paired his heater with a tilting slider as well as a fading changeup, which were effective at keeping hitters off-balance. Smith’s spin profile and pitchability present tons of intrigue, along with his lean, projectable frame. He also recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph.

Conner Thomas  RHP - 2025 - Raleigh, NC

Thomas put together two quality innings on the mound where he induced multiple uncomfortable swings with his two-pitch offering. Both his heater and breaking ball were spun in the 2200 rpm range and showed good movement. The 6-foot-4 prospect showcased his arm talent in the outfield as well where he ran it up to 85 mph during the fielding portion.

Jacob Pettit  OF - 2025 - Fort Mill, SC
Lenoir-Rhyne

Pettit showcased his talents on every level as the 6-foot outfielder ran it up to 84 mph during the fielding portion while delivering low and accurate throws. He also put together a sound round of batting practice where he produced consistent contact to the middle of the field. The righty hitter posted an exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 6.81 sixty-yard dash.

Zack Scruggs  SS - 2025 - Asheboro, NC
Ferrum College

Scruggs was on the barrel all weekend long, scorching baseballs to different parts of the diamond during his batting practice round, and later replicating that success in live action. The righty hitter controls the barrel extremely well around the strike zone and creates easy leverage at impact, often carrying baseballs into the gaps. He recorded an exit velocity of 90 mph.


2026 Top Prospects

Jason Sproull  RHP - 2026 - Wilmington, NC
East Carolina

Sproull struck out four batters without allowing a hit during his two innings of work on the mound. The 6-foot right-hander displayed impressive feel for his two-pitch offering and ran his fastball up to 86 mph with spin nearing 2400 rpm. In the outfield, Sproull showed off his arm strength and accuracy, where he was clocked at 95 mph. He also ran a 6.89 sixty-yard dash.

Matthew Hopkinson  RHP - 2026 - Mobile, AL

Hopkinson struck out four batters through three efficient innings while running his fastball up to 88 mph, which showed ride and occasional cut. The 6-foot-3 right-hander made his presence felt on the mound as he pitched with confidence and dominated hitters with his four-pitch offering. 2027 Top Prospects

Jackson Stepp  SS - 2027 - Hendersonville, NC

Stepp’s arm talent was off the charts as he ran it up to 90 mph from the outfield and 85 mph on the mound. He showed plenty of athleticism with some twitch to his actions during the fielding portion, offering very intriguing upside on the defensive side of the ball. Stepp also put together a loud round of batting practice and added a few knocks in live action.

Lawson Copeland  RHP - 2027 - Charlotte, NC

Copeland put his arm strength on display both on the mound and in the outfield. The 6-foot-1 right-hander filled up all parts of the zone with his fastball, which topped at 88 mph with some life present. His slider was mixed in effectively and proved successful at mistiming barrels. Copeland’s arm talent presents very intriguing upside.

Grant Helms  1B - 2027 - Harrisburg, NC

Helms put together an impressive weekend on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot right-handed hitter had a clean round of batting practice where he laced baseballs all over the diamond. He posted an exit velocity of 85 mph and added a couple of hits during live action. Helms also recorded arm strength up to 86 mph from the outfield.

Nathan Trunck  C - 2027 - Charlotte, NC

Trunck showcased impressive arm talent during the fielding portion, recording arm strength up to 85 mph from both the outfield and on the dirt. The 5-foot-11 prospect offers plenty of upside with intriguing projectability in the frame. He put together a consistent round of batting practice as well while showcasing some juice to the pull-side. Trunck ran a 6.89 sixty-yard dash.
